Located in the Kanab Creek Ranchos of Kanab, this little house is just waiting to accommodate you. The property is fully fenced and pet friendly. Internet access, movies, cd's, dvd's, books and games. The sun room is bright and inviting. The house is vibrant with color and a fun place to vacation.
Kanab is located at the crossroads to Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce national parks. Pipe Springs and Grand Staircase Escalate National Monuments, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and Lake Powell are no more than an hour and a half away.
The bright blue skies, clear starry nights and beautiful red rock cliffs make Kanab an ideal location for vacation. The low humidity and temperate climate makes it comfortable year round. There are many opportunities for hiking, biking and riding ATVs. Established in 1870 by Mormon Pioneers, Kanab grew from a small ranching community in the early 1900's to 'Utah's Little Hollywood' in the 1950's. Kanab is currently the recreation center of south central Utah and the Arizona strip. Best Friends, the largest no-kill animal sanctuary, is just 5 miles north of Kanab.
The Crescent Moon Theater has live entertainment and shows movies. The Juniper Art Gallery and the Kane County Office of Tourism holds regular art exhibits featuring local artists. Kanab has a full service fitness center, a city swimming pool, a 9 hole golf course and a great library.
We discovered Kanab on our many trips through Utah and fell in love with the great beauty and serenity of the area.
Mary Jensen purchased this mobile home in 2010
Location is lovely (although you do need a car). Quiet (except for the rooster in the mornings and the neighbours dogs if deer or coyote were nearby!). We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Kanab and the 8 nights spent at the Retro Retreat were perfectly pleasant. Mary has taken great care in leaving you everything you could need. It's great for two couples (like us) as rooms & bathrooms are at either end of the property to each other. There's also plenty of seating space in separate areas so you can have your own space if sharing with others (although the sun room was very cold this time of year, obviously). The only slight 'negatives' for me (and this is just personal choice) the bed in the master 'ensuite' was far too soft and bouncy (I have a restless husband), and also we are used to having a door on the shower room. The floor is a little uneven in places which made us feel a bit wobbly at times and our friends did have an issue with their toilet cistern on occasions. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to come back to the house and see the huge starry sky with no light pollution. It's also great that you can take your dog (although we left ours at home this time). Looking in the visitor book you can see that Mary really does look after her guests and there are many that return year after year from all over the world. If you are happy with a few quirks then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Retro Retreat as your base in Kanab (providing you have a car).
Retro Retreat offers everything we needed for our anniversary get a way with two of our pooches. There are comfortable well lit places to relax with a good book, cozy bed for great sleeping, hot shower with good water pressure, and even some fun board games to play. The dogs loved the huge yard, and we felt quite comfortable. After a day exploring the National Parks, Retro Retreat was great to come "home" to. Mary is wonderful and makes reserving and staying at this comfortable retreat very easy.
My stay at Retro Retreat exceeded my expectations! The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, and the pantry is nicely stocked. The owner thinks of little personal touches such as information about the area, movies, music, books, and even a supply of postage stamps. I thoroughly enjoyed my week - long stay, as did the"guest dogs". I hope to rent this place for a future trip.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Retro Retreat in Kanab UT. It was clean and comfortable and well stocked and plenty of extra touches. It's central location was great for visiting the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion Nat'l Park, and Bryce Nat'l Park. Very cute place. If I had any criticisim it might be that it would have been nice to have a grill to cook out like most do. And due to the pets being there, I got alot of pet hair on my black pants :-( but it was all minor compared to the nice arrangements, I would (and will) definately recommend the Retro Retreat!
Home was even nicer than anticipated. Cozy, comfortable, cheerful and very clean. It is also very well equipped and furnished. We visited Zion and Bryce Canyon during our stay. Great place to come back to after long days at the parks. Would definitely choose this home to rent if ever in the area again. All communications with the owner were answered quickly and thoroughly.
We stayed at the Retro Retreat for three nights, and had a wonderful time. The kitchen was well-equipped, there was plenty of space, and everything was super-clean. A great base of operations to see Bryce and Zion!
