NEW FOR 2014: In response to our renters, we have upgraded our house with 2 NEW GOLF CARTS FOR 2014!
Our rates include two golf carts (a six and four seater), bikes, and beach chairs. One of our favorite amenities of the house is the private outdoor shower. There is nothing more refreshing than an outdoor shower after a day at the beach.
Bald Head Island is a natural beauty, highlighted by loggerhead turtle nesting areas, a maritime forest, and tidal marshes. A golf course and a tennis and pool complex are available at the Bald Head Island Club. For those seeking fine dining, The Shoals Club is in walking distance and overlooks the Cape Fear.
We have worked hard to provide every special comfort we can think of to make your stay a memorable one for you and your family. Sunday to Sunday rental.
Our family fell in love with the magical life style of Bald Head Island years ago. So much so, my daughter was married in the BHI Chapel in 2009 during the most beautiful week of our lives! We hope you enjoy our house and island as much as we do.
The Owner purchased this house in 2011
bald head island in march was just what we were looking for! with our overbooked and busy schedules we wanted a getaway for our family spring break where we could be together and be unplugged. the house was in a great location on the island. we could easily bike to the beach and we took long walks at least twice a day. my kids were so excited about all of the amazing shells and drift wood that we found on the beach. i felt like we had the entire island to ourselves. often we did not see another soul on the beach and it was magical for our family.
the house was well stocked and furnished with beautiful yet comfy furniture. the beds were all very comfortable. the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed from cast iron pans, cupcake tins to a crock pot. my kids enjoyed taking a "dip" in the big garden tub since it was too cold for a swim.
the new golf carts were great and we were happy to find beach chairs and bikes in the garage.
moonview was a great house for our family and i would highly recommend it!
It is difficult for me to rate this property as "average" because our average stay on Bald Head has been phenomenal. This property didn't quite make the cut, and we really wanted it to! (We have used VRBO at least 15 times in the past decade, and have never left a negative review - rented in CO, MT, NC, FL, or GA.
* Bald Head Island itself is great fun and never disappoints! Spending time with family was wonderful!!
* This was a beautiful home! We loved the rooftop deck - was used at least 3 times a day every day.
* Great layout/floor plan for having lots of family all together. Excellent outdoor areas and porches.
* Fabulous kitchen with granite, stainless steel appliances, and a 6-burner gas stove.
* Comfortable seating for many around dining room table and in great room.
* Golf cart service folks were very responsive when we had issues and flat tire.
* Corn hole, lots of chairs for beach, boogie boards, etc. came in handy.
* First problem - only one cart at house initially. Management co. claimed one of our party must have had it out when we returned from market to find it was back. Everyone in our party was at the market in other cart. Not good PR to accuse renter when it was really missing because it was being serviced.
* The golf carts are NOT in good working order. The 6-seater is persnickety at best - especially in reverse - violent lurch - definitely accident waiting to happen. (Our party included both a veteran golf professional and golf course superintendent, so it was not an issue of "operator error." The 4-seater is hard to get in reverse, and has a dangerous exposed metal strip on the top/back, which required great caution when climbing aboard to ride on the reverse-facing back seat. We did call for service on larger cart when it wouldn't go in reverse. We had issues with both carts daily. We did not call the rental management company over this issue beyond 2 calls on the first day.
* As a note for future renters, neither of the ice makers were working up to par during our stay.
* There are tons of tiny ants in the kitchen. (Didn't call mngmt co. - didn't want them to come in and spray.) We tried diligently to keep kitchen clean and food put away; ended up throwing out about $50 worth of food that was in cabinets covered with ants.
* Rats (yes, rats--from building project across street?) carried off corn hole bags right from porch
Too bad: lovely home, many issue
Five girlfriends stayed at Moon View for 3 nights (NOT long enough!) and we had THE best time! How could we not?! ! The home is beautifully decorated and is so welcoming---we all were excited from the time we walked in the front door Sunday afternoon! Each day included relaxing on the front porch--biking--walking--exploring the island in the golf carts--shopping--and lots of talking!! The kitchen is easy to cook in and we spent a long time sitting around the table after meals. Then we would retire to the comfortable living area to watch television on their big screen---and finally would decide to go to bed! Probably our favorite memory of being in this awesome house was watching the sun go down every night we were there. The memory of the time we spent on the rooftop will be with each of us for the rest of our lives. On our last night---as the sunset---we played the hymn, "Amazing Grace". It was truly a holy, spiritual moment for each of us---the wine glasses were put down and we all stood up in awe of God's beauty and thankful for His grace in our lives.
Don't miss a chance to stay in Moon View!! And as for the five of us--we are definitely going back!
April 6, 2013
I was privileged to spend 5 days at “Moon View” on Bald Head Island in March 2013 and found the house to be very comfortable and homey. The four bedrooms each with a private bath gave us plenty of privacy while the living area (great room, kitchen and dining area) provided plenty of open space to interact. The screened back porch and the huge front porch and upper balcony provided a lot of protected outside space, but the observation deck on the roof was a glorious spot to watch the sun rise and sun set with a lovely 270 degree view of the horizon. Being located at the end of the island, it is very near to the beaches and the two golf carts (one of which is a “stretch” for 6 people) and the 5 bicycles provide very adequate transportation over the whole island for those who don’t want to walk. It is a wonderful place to which to escape.
Moon View feels more like an extraordinary tree house than a beach house. That's not only because it's nestled on a hummock of gnarled, old trees, but also because the grand stairway rises up through the very center of this secluded pied-a-terre.
As a result, you're completely surrounded by the "great room" as soon as your head crests the surface of the second floor (as if it were the ocean itself). If there's a party going on--and, believe me, this house was made for a party!--you emerge in the very center of the action...with everyone greeting you at once. It's quite magical.
But here's the real kicker: Step through the door onto the cozy, little back porch on the second floor, and you'll find a 12-foot spiral staircase to a crow's nest that soars high above the other houses!
From there you can not only catch every sunrise and sunset, but all the moonrises over the ocean as well! They're a little tricky to pull off–the moonrises, that is–but something you'll never forget (especially if you stabilize your binoculars). In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that's not where this enchanted, little cottage with its hidden stairway gets its name.
We arrived at moonview and were amazed at the beauty of the home and amenities. First few days were wonderful but we left a day early because of the mice and cockroaches. Three of the four bedrooms are on the first floor and my daughter and her friend were woken up one night by rustling near their bed. After a lot of laughter and screaming we chased the mouse out....or so we thought. For the next 2 days we kept finding mouse poop in the bedrooms. We called seabreeze rentals, the managing company and received no response back. On Friday, cockroaches scrambled among our chips in the kitchen that were on the counter. Once againcalled seabreeze with no return. Kids couldn't sleep at night so we left a day early. Beautiful home but lousy customer service. Owners should reconsider management company
