About Sherrry or Bob Belisle

We moved to Woodstock 43 years ago, attracted by its beauty and so many cultural and sporting opportunities in the immediate area. For a semi-rural area, we have all the entertainment a city could offer. We've worked in the hospitality industry here for 40 years and can tell you about everything, even where the best foliage is! We'd be pleased to lend advice on where to eat, what to see and what to do in town. We have children and grandchildren and we've explored it all. However, we'll be very unobtrusive if we sense you so desire. In our pseudo-retirement we also maintain other properties, play tennis and teach piano lessons. Our log home was built from the trees on our property, even the cherry railings.

Sherrry or Bob Belisle purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Sherrry or Bob Belisle chose Woodstock

Our reviews say it all. Woodstock Vermont is considered one of the most beautiful small towns in the US. The village has wonderful shops, a beautiful library, art galleries, several covered bridges, many highly-rated restaurants and a National Park. Woodstock is also “wireless” – a wifi signal covers much of the area. Woodstock is centrally located in Vermont – close to Dartmouth College, Vermont Law School and the Green Mountain Horse Association. Local ski areas include Suicide Six (10 minutes), Killington (25 minutes), Pico (25 minutes), Ascutney (30 minutes) and Okemo (35 minutes). In season, we also have some of the best cross-country/nordic skiing within the local resort and National Park. We love it here. We lived next door for 40 years and completed this new home in 2009, with the idea of renting out the apartment for others to enjoy. And we specifically had our urban-living children advise us on the layout, appliances and amenities. It is a wonderful escape.

What makes this apartment unique

Walk to village, full kitchen and laundry. Keurig.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We truly enjoyed the cabin and Woodstock and look forward to our return. Your advice to ski Saturday saved us - I don't think we would have made it out there yesterday when the temperature dropped!

Thanks again.

Can't get enough Woodstock (in good hands with Bob and Sherry)!

We've stayed here two or three times, always in the winter. Bob and Sherry are great hosts, unfailingly warm and available. They have ideas of where to go/eat, spare sleds if you need them, found us a great babysitter several times, etc. They love their spot and it shows. The apartment is laid out nicely; even with a 1br we stayed last with our two kids (3yo and 1yo with no problems). Kitchen has everything you need.

The town is really special and picturesque. Nice hiking options, good food to be found (particularly the farmer's market store). We've eaten several times at the Simon Pearce Restaurant, where the food is really nice (almost as nice as the setting - overlooking a damn). We even did a Burlington day trip one visit and it was a bit long but doable.

Quiet solitude, and yet only 3 minutes away from the Woodstock Green and all that the center of Woodstock has to offer. Our hosts were informative without being intrusive, and we felt we were in our own little world - and a nicely furnished one at that!

Loved "our" apartment and Woodstock

Loved "our" apartment and Woodstock

This was the perfect place to stay on our recent trip to Vermont. We were there for a family wedding and all the functions were within an easy drive of Woodstock. The apartment is much bigger than it appears in the photos and has everything you need, spotless and well maintained. Fresh flowers from Sherry's lovely garden on the counter when we checked in which was such a nice welcome. Fluffy towels, full size washer and dryer, completely equipped kitchen including a Kerig coffee maker and coffee. There are 2 grocery stores in Woodstock. The Woodstock Farmers Market is worth checking out, especially for things like local cheeses and organic goods, but we found it quite expensive. There is a regular grocery on the other side of town for basics. The apartment has walk in closets so you can hang everything up and put your suitcases out of sight. Bob and Sherry are great hosts, answering any questions, knowledgeable about the area, etc. I can't think of a thing they could do to make this any better. It was a perfect time of year to visit. Woodstock is such a pretty and historical town, flowers were blooming everywhere, picture perfect when we visited. Spent plenty of time just walking around town and then driving a bit into the countryside to check out a couple of the General Stores in the area. (great places for lunch). Be sure to visit the Woodstock library. We even attended a free piano recital there - Sherry is the piano instructor, so it felt like we were locals. It is true that you can walk in to town, but it took me about 10 min and the walk back is up hill, so we drove. So much to see and do in the area, or only regret was that we didn't have more time. We enjoyed breakfast at The Mountain Creamery and dinner at The Prince and Pauper in town. Beware of cell phone coverage. We have Sprint and no reception anywhere in town. Our cousin has AT&T and she did. With the wifi in the apartment and in Woodstock we could communicate using email so it worked out. Both my husband and I would highly recommend renting this apartment and vacationing in Woodstock. Thank you Bob and Sherry, we hope to come again!

Perfect, peaceful spot - wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5
This log cabin a block from "downtown" Woodstock was the perfect spot for our 3-day adventure. Beautiful pine floors, 6" log walls, open, airy, clean as a whistle. Great bed, quiet, peaceful.

Bob is a great, attentive and friendly host. He and Sherry make everything easy for their guests — menus, "what-to-do" guides etc. Bob even offered to arrange for us to borrow an amplifier for an Open Mic in nearby Hartland. Didn't need, but much obliged!

Highest rating, will definitely recommend, and hope we get to stay again. Thanks for the applesauce, Bob!

How many ways can I say perfect!

  • 5 of 5
This was our first Vermont weekend. Bob and his wife are the perfect hosts. From the first contact, they made things wonderful. The apartment was a dream. This weekend was our de-stress trip and it definitely will not be our last. We will be returning. Yes, Bob, I will even return in the snow.

Although Woodstock is a village of just 3000+ in a rural area, there are so many activities to do and places to visit. In town is a National Park, Billings Farm and Museum, hiking trails, a spa and both fine and casual dining, One mile south is a fitness center with indoor pool and many classes, golf and tennis. Horseback riding is just 3 miles south, skiing 10 minutes north. We have an arts council that brings top notch performances to our Town Hall. Opera and Ballet are just 20 minutes away. Dartmouth College and Vermont Law School are also a short drive.

Other Activities: Indoor tennis, Cross country skiing and extensive moderate hiking 4/10s of a mile

Ski: Suicide 6 is 10 minutes north. It has 23 trails (30% beginner, 40% intermediate, 30% advanced.) http://www.skitown.com/resortguide/lifttickets.cfm/vt23/SuicideSix

Killington is 30 minutes west.

Cross country skiing at Woodstock Golf Club, 3 minutes away.
