Fun Facts about the French Quarter:

The French Quarter is also known as the 'Vieux Carré' witch means 'Old Square' in French. It has been the center of New Orleans since the city was founded.

The French Quarter area was the first land settled in the New Orleans area because it was the highest elevation available. That elevation saved the Quarter from the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina.

A fire in 1788 and another in 1794 burned most of the French-built properties, and reconstruction was accomplished under the rule of Spain. To this day, architecture in the Quarter retains a strong Spanish influence.

In the late 1800's and the first half of the 1900's, the Quarter was less fashionable than today and housed many new immigrants drawn by low rents.

The later decades of the 1900's saw a revival of the neighborhood due to historical renovation, the 1984 World's Fair and development of the area for tourism.

About Cathy Davis

I live in Las Vegas, NV have owned the property for 10 years. I have always loved the French Quarter, there is no other place in the United States that equals the food the entertainment and of course the history. I have been vacationing in the French Quarter for over 40 years and just can't seen to get enough.

Cathy Davis purchased this studio in 2005

Why Cathy Davis chose French Quarter

I love the location, right behind Jackson Square an easy walk to all the hot spots of the French Quarter.

What makes this studio unique

The unit has a Court Yard which is nice in the morning with a cup of coffee and the morning paper.

We will return

  • 5 of 5

We continue to return to this great condo for several reasons. During Mardi Gras, it is close to all of the activity, but still very private and as removed from the noise as possible. We can walk to everything. Working with Cathy and Lewin could not be better. I highly recommend making this your stay for a French Quarter vacation. We try new places every year and have added Kingfish to our list of favorite restaurants and it is very near by.

Great trip for a birthday celebration!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend in early September 2014 to celebrate my Husband's birthday. The location cannot be beat. It's smack in the middle of the French Quarter, near everything, and in easy walking distance to everything, including Frenchmen's street. Since it's behind a locked gate, we felt safe. The place was decorated with trumpets and other instruments, which my husband got a kick out of since he plays the trumpet. There were bikes available that we didn't end up using, but it was nice to know we could. Lewin and Cathy were a breeze to deal with, and were quick to respond to any questions. The place was clean, and, fortunately, the A/C worked great since it was VERY hot that weekend. Laundry is outside of the unit, but free. Little grocery store up the street was great to stock up on bottled water. I would definitely recommend to a couple going in for some fun.

The only reasons for not awarding a 5:

- It is small so not good for more than 2 people and note that the bed is up against the wall - but it is very comfortable.

- Closet, but no drawers, so we had to live out of our suitcases. Not a big deal, but I like to move in!

- The shower is very small with exposed brick, and drainage is not great (probably due to crumbling walls) - so watch your elbows.

Great French Quarter condo!

  • 5 of 5

This condo was perfect for the quick trip my husband & I took to New Orleans during Carnival season. It was close to everything we wanted to see and do, while still being safe and quiet. It was convenient to have a grocery store so close by when we needed something other than Cafe du Monde's beignets for sustenance! We also heard an interesting story about the building the condo is in while on the Ghost Tour with 'Free Tours by Foot' (highly recommended!). Pat O'Briens bar is very close by...we really enjoyed the Piano Room while sipping on their famous Hurricanes. We would definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking to explore the French Quarter. Cathy was very easy to deal with, and quick to respond to any inquiries.

Repeat renter

  • 5 of 5

This year will be our fifth stay at the condo, so obviously we are great fans. Lewin and Cathy are great to work with and we love the studio. We visit during Mardi Gras and have stayed at several other locations over the years, but nothing compares to this studio. You are near every place you want to visit, but still have privacy and security. The studio is a perfect place for a French Quarter visit.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this condo, and can confirm while it is very small, it is quite comfortable, provides some French Quarter art/funk and the location can not be beat. Very safe, quiet (other than sometimes neighbours upstairs). Cathy was very quick to respond to any questions/concerns (there were very few), we would recommend dealing with Cathy & Lewin for sure. We have stayed in three other places in the Quarter & this location is by far the best.
