About Sibel Tuncel

My husband and I met and fell in love in La Jolla. We never grow tired of living in such a beautiful city. We feel like we are on vacation 24/7 because there are so many fun things to do here- We live a very active life with our young son and the mild climate allows us to enjoy the beautiful outdoors which includes beaches, private and public parks, museums, theaters, restaraunts, great shopping, art galleries, and live entertainment. We especially enjoy our sunday farmer's market located one block away on Sundays from 9 am -1 pm-Aside from acquiring our weekly fresh fruites, vegetables, breads and flowers we love purchasing gifts, eating lunch and listening to the live music.

Sibel Tuncel purchased this condo in 2003

Why Sibel Tuncel chose La Jolla

Having a condominium located within a village allows for you to walk to everthing. It is so nice to not have to drive if you don't want to.

5 More Great Things to Do in La Jolla

Beaches: When people say San Diego has great beaches, they really mean La Jolla has great beaches. La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores and Windansea are not only the best in San Diego but perhaps the best in the state and La Jolla Shores may be the California's most beautiful beach, with a wide, gently-sloping beach and panoramic views. A morning or sunset walk here is enough to relax the most stressed-out among us, and it's even better when the tide is going out, coating the sand with a mirror-like water layer.

Birch Aquarium: This small aquarium is packed with interesting stuff, and it won't wear you out.

La Jolla Playhouse: This theatre company won a well-deserved Tony Award for Regional Theater in 1993.

Go for a window-shopping stroll along Prospect Avenue and the side streets that run into it. With few chain stores in sight, you might just find something you can't leave without. For a private walk with places to sit and enjoy the view, take the steps going down next to 1298 Prospect. Follow the wooden fence beside the cave entrance, then walk along the dirt path. You'll find few people here, but you won't be alone. A large colony of cormorants and a seagulls inhabit the cliff face below.

Walk Around: For a more structured walk, try a guided walking tour. Hike Bike Kayak offers an excellent, one-hour tour focusing on the natural beauty of the La Jolla coast and the city's history. Where Tours visits five art galleries, the La Jolla waterfront, a hidden mermaid statue and the Sunny Jim sea cave.

Go Kayaking: Hike Bike Kayak offers a tour of the La Jolla Sea Caves, and no experience is required.

What makes this condo unique

We never grow tired of the spectacular ocean view. We sometimes have to pinch ourselves, La Jolla really is a little piece of paradise. The condo is beatifully appointed with travertine floors, rich wood cabinetry in both the kitchen and bath- It iis stylishly decorated and very comfortable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We could not have been more pleased with these accommodations! the view of the ocean from within the condo, as well as from the balcony was magnificent. Talk about location, location, location- we could walk everywhere. Restaurants, galleries stores and cafe's are very close, and there are so many beaches to walk to as well, i.e. Marine Street beach, world famous Wind & Sea beach (great surfing), and The Cove adjacent to Scripps Park (great swimming, dolphin and seal watching ).

All the condo's amenities are brand new- the kitchen is fully equiped, and the bathroom and bedroom have quality linens. We were thrilled to sleep in a king sized bed that also had an ocean view.

We brought our bikes and cruised around, we enjoyed lunch at the Farmer's Market on Sunday's - and Happy hour at Azul on Prospect. Free concerts in Scripps park on Sunday afternoons were also nice - we brought the two condo beach chairs and a blanket - stopped at Girard Gourmet for a couple of sandwiches and enjoyed a picnic while listening to some great live music.

We can't wait to come back next summer!

I had a wonderful stay at the condo. Talk about an excellent location. I could easily walk down to the village or even to WindnSea beach and enjoyed the incredible sunset views from the 4th floor every evening. The building is quiet, well maintained and Sibel has provided everything you could possibly think of to accommodate your stay.

As a single woman, I also appreciated having the secure parking space included for my use. Thank you Sibel! I really enjoyed my stay and appreciated all of the extras you stocked the shelves with to make cooking, cleaning and my life so much easier during my stay.

Wonderful Location and Accommodation

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at this condo. It was the perfect accommodation for us with so much to see within walking distance - from Mt. Soledad to Scripps Pier and everything in-between. The location is excellent in terms of access to the venues and attractions that tourists frequent most and the gated parking garage provided good security for our rental car. We stayed for three weeks and the unit was immaculate upon arrival with no clutter, ample storage and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking and cleaning supplies. The gorgeous sunsets over the Pacific every evening were absolutely stunning. We hope to return sometime later this year. Loved it!

Beautiful Condo in Beautiful La Jolla

  • 5 of 5
In the month of September my wife and I returned for the second time to this beautiful condo on the hill in La Jolla overlooking the ocean. The accommodations were outstanding as they were the first time we were lucky enough to stay there. The owners , as before, provided a nicely appointed condo which is the ideal size for my wife and I. We feel very secure staying in this building and in this condo.

It being only our second time to stay here we were very happy to meet up with some of the area residents that we had met on our previous visit. There are several nice shops and restaurants within walking distance where we were able to visit with the nice people of La Jolla. We played golf at some very nice courses which were just a short drive from the condo on the highway which is very accessible.

We love this condo and the area and plan to come back again. The owners make you feel that the condo is really your own and make sure everything is in order for you. Very, very nice!

Amazing views in the heart of La Jolla

  • 5 of 5
We are just completing our month long stay at this property and we have loved every minute of it. I'll start with the basics - the condo is clean and in a nice building. The kitchen is well stocked and each room is generous in size. There is a great laundry within the property, a pack and play for your baby and a space for your car in the garage downstairs. The finishes at the condo (Solid woods, granite counter tops, stone floors) are beautiful so you really do feel like you are staying at an upmarket property. Our favourite part are the ocean views from every window and balcony in the house - it is breath taking, especially that sun set! The only downside is that afternoon sun makes the condo very hot and stuffy. There is a breeze that comes through the apartment and there is a fan here also so it is easy to manage. Sibel, the owner was great to deal with and so helpful. I needed some baby stuff sent before our arrival and she ensure it was delivered to the condo, she had fresh flowers on the table when we arrived and we even met for coffee. The location of the condo is great too - you are a few minutes walk away from a vons, cvs, coffee shops and the hustle and bustle of La Jolla. We would stay here again without a doubt.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for a month in the summer. We have rented a number of apartments in the U.S. and in Europe, and this was the best equipped and maintained place we have ever rented. Everything was perfect--clean, well furnished, wonderfully "stocked" with whatever one could need in the kitchen. We fell in love with the condo and especially with the phenomenal view of the Pacific Ocean--glorious day and night. The convenience to everything in the Village of La Jolla is fabulous. And the owner is delightful.

An absolute GEM!

  • 5 of 5
We absolutely love love love this place! The view is truly amazing, we enjoyed breakfast with a view every morning. The kitchen has just about everything we need and it's a good kitchen for those who like to cook, like us. The Sunday Farmers market just around the corner made it too difficult not to make the most of the kitchen!
The distance to the heart of town is just perfect for us as we like the walk and prefer not to be in the middle of everything.
The owner Sibel is so so lovely everytime we've spoken to her prior to our arrival. And it is clear to us that she loves and takes good care of the place.
We made an enquiry about a kettle during our stay and she sent one to us fairly quickly without any fuss. She seems genuinely interested in us having a good stay which just made us love the place even more.
We love it. We feel at home here, and want to take care of it like our own place. We love Sibel. And we will definitely be returning again next year!

In Spanish, La Jolla means 'the jewel,' an apt name for a beautiful town ringed with blue waters. It's one of California's prettiest oceanside towns, and home to several of the state's best beaches.

Topnotch golf courses, art galleries and seals share the dramatic oceanside landscape of La Jolla, an affluent community 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. Swimmers, snorkelers and kayakers dip into La Jolla Cove, where the protected waters shield an abundance of bright orange Garibaldi fish and sea caves indent the cliffs. The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the family-friendly Birch Aquarium and the acclaimed La Jolla Playhouse deliver breaks from the sun.

La Jolla Farmers Market set up every Sunday between 9 AM to 1 PM where you would find local farmers, artists and delicious food. Locals favorite.

Isn't It Romantic?

It's hard not to feel romantic in a setting as pretty as La Jolla's.

Tips

We know it's popular, but the visit to Sunny Jim cave is only marginally interesting, and the 145 stairs are a bit of a climb if you aren't in shape.

La Jolla is home to some top-notch restaurants, and many of them serve their excellent cuisine at lunch, but at a lower price than at night. George's at the Cove is an especially good place to use this strategy, since you can see the ocean from their windows better in the daytime, anyway.

It's harder to find a parking spot on La Jolla on a weekend than it is to find gold on the beach. If you're there for the day, you've gotta find someplace to park your ride, so these tips might help. There are no parking meters, but streets nearest the water do have a one hour time limit. Go a little further away for two hour parking, and be sure you observe the time limits. Parking enforcement is active here even off-season. You'll find a few paid lots scattered around town and the ones on the edge of downtown are a little cheaper. Your best bet may be a parking lot so hidden that few people notice it. Turn downhill onto Coast Blvd. from Prospect and you'll find it on the left, across from the Cave Store. Vehicles more than 6'5' won't fit in this one, though.

La Jolla is busier on weekends than during the week. If you can plan your visit Monday through Thursday, you'll almost have the place to yourself.

To enjoy La Jolla at its scenic best, check the low tide times before you go. Head for La Jolla Shores as the tide is going out and visit La Jolla Cove at low tide when the tide pools are revealed.
