PRIVATE COUNTRY SETTING 5 MI. NW OF BEND WITH MOUNTAIN VIEWS

Bend House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

We call it Tumalo Pines because our house is nestled on 20 private, forested acres 'toward Tumalo' but just five miles northwest of Bend.

Watch the morning sun light up the Three Sisters Mountain range, cup of coffee in hand as you walk the property with the deer. Relax in the sun on one of three separate decks as many species of birds come to the feeders. Grill meals on the terrace while enjoying a glass of wine in front of the large outdoor fireplace. Star-gaze from the 6-person hot tub.

The house has an open floor plan with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a laundry room. The fully-equipped kitchen is open to the great room. The comfortable beds and quiet country nights make for great sleeping. Listen for the owls and coyotes.

It's hard to believe you're only five miles from Bend with its gourmet restaurants and shopping. And, located here on the West-side, there's easy access to Mt Bachelor and the surrounding national forests with their miles of trails for hiking and biking. And, the house is located on one of the prime touring routes so bring your road bike!

Whatever it is that brings you to Bend, be it the rivers and lakes for great fly fishing, golfing in the good weather on any of the 30+ courses within 30 miles of the house, or just relaxing and reading books on the deck, you'll find that our house is wonderful base for your Central Oregon vacation.

Keywords: Privacy, country setting, amid 20 acres of open pine and juniper forest, 5 minutes northwest of Bend, single-story, newer 3 bedroom home.

About Doug Wold

We value the experience of simply being at Tumalo Pines as much if not more than all of the things we do while we're there.

Doug Wold purchased this house in 2003

Why Doug Wold chose Bend

I grew up on the wet side of the Cascades and came to love the Central Oregon high desert with its dry climate, dramatic seasons and sun as a kid. Bend has long been 'the place to go' for many Oregonians for the climate and instant access to a myriad of outdoor activites. Adding to that the many good restaurants and all the shopping and services one would need makes it an ideal location. There's a reason so many people love Bend.

What makes this house unique

The setting is beautiful and amazingly peaceful. The open forest, views and privacy feel like you are much further out of town than just five miles.

Relaxing weekend in Tumalo!

  • 4 of 5
All about location--the views from every window are beautiful, and you feel relaxed as soon as you turn into the drive. The proximity to town is great, really a quick jaunt through Shevlin park, and you're amidst all the brew pubs. The outdoor space is fantastic; we made good use of the beautiful fireplace and firewood, the hot tub, and the grill. The set up of the house is well thought out, with the master bedroom far enough away from the other bedrooms and the kitchen/living room. The decor was cute and fit in the scenery. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is some of the house is starting to look a bit worn (like carpet, bedding, towels, appliances, etc.) I understand they are in process to address this. But, don't let that stop you from staying here--it was great.

Wonderful place for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Tumalo Pines in May with my family who was visiting from out of state. We had the best time. The house was really remote, and felt like we were miles away from civilization - which was wonderful. In actuality we were just a short ride away from the town of Bend. We had expected the weather in May to be warmer, two of the hiking trails we attempted were still covered in snow, but that was just bad planning on our part. Tumalo Pines was wonderful. Fire Place, hot tub, three bedrooms, great whirlpool bath, clean, warm. I can't say enough good things!

Even Better Than the Description

  • 5 of 5
When I booked this house for a long weekend, I was looking forward to the attractive great room and kitchen, the outdoor living area with fireplace, and the views of the Sisters from the property. When we arrived and walked around inside and outside the house, I couldn't stop smiling. I had totally "scored" with this house. It doesn't feel like a rental house; it is a home. The kitchen has everything!!! All those condiments you didn't think to bring, items in the pantry, etc. The space flows from the open kitchen to the great room to the outdoor living room. We love the town of Bend and the skiing and biking in the area. However, when we were settled in the house, it was hard to imagine why we had plans to do anything other than enjoy ourselves in this lovely setting. We will definitely return. Thank you, Doug, for sharing your lovely home with us.

Doug,
Thank you for allowing us the priviledge of enjoying your beautiful property. As 3 professional east coast adventure enthusiasts we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Mt Bachelor is a great ski mountain without lift lines and exciting terrain for all skill levels. Snowmobiling down at Crater lake was an excellent "day off" the slopes to give our legs a needed break. And our other side trip to a temperate rain forest near the coast was all you could imagine it to be from the info that led us there.
Our host was extremely informative and cordial in our exchanges. The home itself was as described. Clean and well stocked with magnificant views and great amenities. The birds were a treat in their diversity and abundance. One morning, with a cup of coffee in hand, we noticed 6-8 deer right out the back door. To our surprise along came 3 coyotes. As the stare down ensued, we were mesmerized by the casual acknowledgement they gave each other as they continued on their way. Very cool.
Thank you for excellent accommodations and all the restaurant reviews -- we enjoyed some great meals. Bend is a very nice desination and all 3 of us would go back in a heartbeat.

Relaxing and Fun Stay in Bend

  • 5 of 5
This house was great for a very relaxing but also activity driven week. The master bed was very comfortable, the hot tube amazing, the house very clean, and the property beautiful. This property is great for those that want to get away from the general public but close enough to have fun around Bend. This was also our first time in Bend, we are so glad we came. We will be back!
