Condo is an older, but nice 2BR condo on the second floor. There is mold on the cieling above the master BR tub/shower. The mattress in the master BR is worn out. We flipped it, and turned it all sorts of ways, always rolling to the middle of the mattress. Other areas in the condo are ok. From the second BR you can hear a lot of traffic noise thru the night. Can't fix that in any way. I'm certain the minor problems can and will be taken care of very soon. Views of the gulf are narrowed by other buildings on the property, but relatively nice. This condo is about 300 yards from the water. WI-Fi is a disgustingly poor signal, and can't be used with any reliability. There is one ethernet cable in the condo that has decent connectivity. I would rent this property again as long as the two problems mentioned earlier were taken care of. My biggest problem, and the reason I wouldn't return to Silver Dunes is because of how the entire property is managed. This facillity is one BIG Noise generator. The dumpster truck is allowed onto the property, usually on Monday's, and at anytime of the morning between 0545 and 0730. This was the same with the neighboring properties and for about 1/2 hour you could hear trucks up and down the beach emptying dumpsters. Roofers were there replacing the roof on other buildings. Roofing employees came onto the property anytime they wanted usually about 0615 each day. Each morning they could be heard outside the condo BS'ing. Roofers were allowed to use ALL the tools of their trade throughout the day into the evening hours. Roofers also left nails and screws in the driveway causing me to have a flat tire. When explaining the situation to the office staff, I felt little would be done to keep that from happening again. I didn't see the roofers doing a good police call on the driveway and parking area after that. The pool is not heated in the winter until Nov 20, but still way too cold for these old bones. Finally, the water was turned off, i guess to the entire property, with no warning given. The water was off for about two hours. We got thru this ok, but can't imagine why we weren't told about this. There was only two other condo's occupied at the time. Again, this property is poorly managed with little thought given to the customer. I'm just happy I don't own property there. I imagine Silver Dunes can get a customer once, but rarely a second time. Such is my case.
Owner's Response: I was just reading the reviews I received this year and you were the only guest that gave me a negative review. I was almost afraid it would hurt my future bookings but, I'm pleased to say that I had it rented every week this past summer and several have already reserved it for next year. I have painted the bathroom and gotten new mattress and box springs for master bedroom. The mold you referred to was very easily washed off and was not a concern for other renters. However, it is extremely important that the exhaust fan be kept running during baths and showers or the moisture can build up and form mold. The condo had also been closed up for several days before you arrived and I had not had the cleaning staff go back to check the unit. Since you were there for a whole month, it would have been so much nicer if you would have notified me personally rather than posting it on the internet for the whole world to read. Even with your extremely negative review, I was thrilled to have had a very successful year.
