Governor's Harbour Condo Rental Photos and Description
2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6
This extraordinary new condominium is located on the top floor of a 2 1/2-story building built on a ridge 45 feet above the Caribbean. The views of both oceans are truly breathtaking. From your condominium’s large windows and extensive decks, you can watch the sun rise over the Atlantic and set over the Caribbean. Both views are vast and spectacular.
Buttonwood Reserve has access to two beaches, a small beach on the Caribbean side with calm shallow water, almost in your front yard, and a world-class, 3-mile-long pink-sand beach on the Atlantic side of the property. The Atlantic side beach is accessed via a private driveway. The condominium comes with a golf cart for easy access to the Atlantic beach. If you’re not in the mood for a swim in the ocean, slip into our new resort-style pool, just steps from your condominium. This beautiful landscaped pool is heated for comfortable swimming year round.
Back inside, the great room of this magnificent condominium features an 8-foot sliding glass door with Caribbean views. The slider opens onto a large deck furnished for lounging or dining while watching the sun set over the Caribbean. This spacious deck extends around the corner of the building for views in every direction. Enjoy a meal or a beverage on the deck, or watch the dolphins frolic in the Caribbean. The great room includes a living area with flat-screen satellite TV and a dining area with dining room seating for six. The east end of the great room features a modern, open-plan, luxurious kitchen finished in stainless steel and black granite. The kitchen, dining area, and living room have magnificent ocean views in every direction, with water sparkling as far as the eye can see.
The master bedroom is features a large upholstered window seat with magnificent panoramic views of the Caribbean, a perfect spot to relax with a book or morning coffee, or watch the sunset over the sea. The master is furnished with a king bed and equipped with an en-suite full bath. The master has a private door leading to the deck over the Caribbean.
The guest bedroom also features a large window seat with a spectacular view, this one overlooking the Atlantic. The guest bedroom has a full en-suite bath (which can be accessed from the hall as well). It is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a king. The guest bedroom has a private door to the east deck of the house, which overlooks the Atlantic. The East deck also extends around the corner of the building for views in every direction.
Situated on 50 lush acres, Buttonwood Reserve extends from the Caribbean Sea on the west to the Atlantic Ocean on the east. Buttonwood’s spectacular three-mile Atlantic beach is pristine, without a single house on it. The only structure is a thatched palapa we built on the dune for shade. Enjoy long walks, swimming, and body surfing on this beautiful beach. On windy days there will be waves. On calm days, when the ocean can be as flat as a lake, there is excellent snorkeling, including on a shipwreck close to shore.
Buttonwood Reserve comes with kayaks for use on the sea or in our pond. Buttonwood’s half-mile-long pond is a great spot for bird-watching or exploring.
Bicycles are also provided for riding around the property or to town, less than a mile away.
Our groundskeeper, Patrick, is an expert fisherman and will take you out fishing in his boat for a half day or full day (extra charges apply.) Grill your catch fresh on our infrared outdoor grill.

Buttonwood reserve is an easy 15-minute drive from Governors Harbour, the main town on the island. Governors Harbour has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, and a medical clinic. Friday night fish fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
Just a mile from Buttonwood Reserve is the village of James Cistern, which has a good grocery store, a town dock where the fisherman bring their catch every day, a produce stand, and two small local restaurants, Kel-d’s and Lee’s cafe. James Cistern is also the home of Stubb’s famous barbecue, every Friday and Saturday, which is not to be missed.
Buttonwood reserve is less than 10 minutes from the boutique luxury resort Sky Beach Club, which has an excellent beachfront restaurant and infinity pool, with swim up cocktail bar and poolside service all day long. Other restaurants in the area include Tippy’s (international and fusion), the Beach House (tapas), the Rainbow Inn (famous for its steaks) and Da Perk (cafe and sandwich shop). The restaurants and little resorts have live music one or more nights a week, so there is live entertainment somewhere nearby almost every night.
Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is famous for being safe. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. We hope you will enjoy Buttonwood Reserve and experience all our island has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the manager
We stayed in a 2nd floor unit which had spectacular views of the ocean and grounds from all decks and windows. In the master bedroom, you can see the ocean without even getting out of bed, a great way to wake up in the morning! The beds were comfortable, the unit nicely decorated and the kitchen well equipped. Brenda is a sweet heart and willing to help with whatever you need. One morning we woke up to no water because there was a problem in Governor's Harbor, but Liam was quick to come over and turn on the back up system to get the problem solved. I used the Samsung Tablet provided to check emails and make local calls. When using your own device to access the internet just tether one device at a time and it will work better. Internet service is going to be improved soon and so that won't be an issue much longer. We spent most of our time discovering the amazing beaches on the island (Lighthouse North, Ten Bay, Next 2 Rocks, Ji-Kan, French Leave etc) so we did not spend much time at the beaches surrounding the property. Bring a boogie board for the Atlantic side beach because the surf is quite high. There are several boogie boards that have been left by previous guests as well that are available. A must for finding the beaches is The Beach Book by Bret Sigillo. Order it before you come if you don't know this island because beaches are not marked and can be difficult to find and the book gives specific instructions for every beach on the island. We would have been lost, literally, without it. I also wish I had brought a cooler type bag that would have been easy to carry drinks in for the beach. It's easier to carry than a regular cooler. The location of this condo is great because it is central and only 15 minutes from Governor's Harbor, plus close to great restaurants (The Front Porch, The Rainbow Inn, Tippy's, Da Perk, Beach House) and beaches north and south of the property. Lastly, if you have any problems or issues during your stay, rest assured they'll be remedied quickly. Matthew Simon, the rental agent, is outstanding and committed to making sure guests have a wonderful stay. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. Eleuthera is very undeveloped and unique, do lots of research before your visit and you'll have an amazing time like we did!
