Private entrance, bay view and walking distance to many things!
This studio, built as a “bonus room” above a garage, had a nice view through the kitchen window and from the little balcony toward the bay and the mountains on the opposite side of the bay. We liked pretty much everything about this suite, including two racks for luggage, good bed, TV/DVD and a cozy couch. We even watched a movie one night – the owners seem particularly fond of Julia Roberts movies with quite a few selections (we like them too). It is a quiet neighborhood and we slept well. It may not be equipped for gourmet cooking, but we boiled pasta and veggies and heated some pasta sauce in the microwave – for us the kitchen was quite good and we found everything we needed. We parked our car in back (alley way between Ballantine and 6th) right next to the entrance door leading to a private staircase up to the studio. It was within a walking distance of everything (except perhaps the Safeway which is a little outside town as you drive in). I met Jodi briefly to pay for our stay and she was friendly and suggested some things for us to do on our drive along the Glenn Highway. My on-line contact with her before arrival was very good and she was very gracious when we cancelled one night out of our original 3-night stay. Considering the cost of hotel/motel rooms in Seward, “A Suite View” was a good value and we would be happy to stay there again another time. As far as activities go in a brief time, Exit Glacier was worth seeing and the Kenai Fjords 6 hour catamaran tour was fantastic. Walking the paved path along the shore of Resurrection Bay alongside Seward was also a lot of fun, watching all the campers, salmon fishers, etc.
The studio is great for romantic getaways. It has all amenities and is very well maintained. It is just steps away from the Seward bay. The owner and her family are very polite/friendly and had all the amenities for the stay. I would recommend this for couples.
We had an enjoyable time in Seward and this place to stay was very clean and convenient. Pete & Jodi where great hosts and very accommodating!
A walking distance to the bay, shopping & fishing trips galore! Great restaurants are close by as well. Try Chinooks! You'll find lots to do for the outdoorsy types like full day sea kayacking trips. Exit Glacier is a 10 mile drive away. We'll definitely come back in the future! A true highlight of our trip :)
We enjoyed this cozy comfortable apartment while we were in Seward. The apartment was clean and the owner was gracious and easy to communicate with. The bed was very comfortable! The next time we get back to Seward, I would most definitely stay here again! I would recommend this to anyone.
A very clean garage apt. with extremely nice owners who will go out of their way to accommodate. Not much of a kitchen so be prepared to eat out or do take out. Good deli at the local Safeway grocery. Weather didn't cooperate but we caught some fish and saw whales playing in the bay. Enjoyed our stay!
We spent a very cozy three nights and enjoyed the space. It is very clean, light and comfortable. It is centrally located in Seward and very easy to find. The owners were very nice and informative and Pete even gave us a jar of his freshly smoked salmon. The bed was so comfortable we had a hard time getting up - despite the long, long summer days.
The only issue we had was that the kitchen was very minimally equipped making cooking a bit of a challenge. A few more utensils and basics would be a big help. For non-cooks it would be fine.
We enjoyed Seward despite bad weather while we were there. We had booked a Northwestern Fjords tour but the trip was cut short by 12-14 foot swells perpendicular to the required route of travel across the bay. The tours folks did their best and we saw a whale, otters and Stellar sea lions but no glaciers.
We hiked to Exit Glacier though and enjoyed that. For food we did eat at Chinooks one night and can recommend the restaurant. Very good food and not that expensive (by Alaska standards). The Alaska Alehouse downtown has an array of great Alaskan beers and we can recommend most anything by Midnight Sun Brewery (Chinook IPA in particular) and the Glacier IPA. It is a local place but we felt like locals after a couple of trips.
In summary, the property was very enjoyable with nice views of the bay and the mountains. The VRBO description is accurate. Can recommend if you don't plan much cooking.
