I spent 8 days with my family. The house is just 30 meters from Dorrego Square, which is the central life point in San Telmo. The very old and traditional San Telmo market is also half-block away.
The apartment itself has all you need to spent a good holiday time, including good wine glasses, which are fundamental when travelling in Buenos Aires. Martin Aguilera, which is the contact point in Buenos Aires is an amazing guy who helped us with all local subjects and suggestions. The apartment also had a local mobile phone which is available for using during your stay. You only need to add credit.
I strongly recommend to stay at this house! Even considering that the subway is not so far away (10-12 minutes walk), the bus lines in Buenos Aires operate very well and they can help to reach all the main spots in the city.
We entered through an ornate, old door off Defensa Street and walked down a long tiled walkway open to the sky, unlocked the door to find our private courtyard and our gorgeous, modern apartment, with a fresh bouquet of flowers on the glass dining room table. Real class! Our backpacks, left in Martin and Ferran's office had been graciously delivered there as we requested. Tucked away from Sunday's bustling market on Defensa St, we enjoyed peace & quiet. Just down the street on the corner of our block we found Dorrego Square where we experienced public tango dancing until late at night. This location, smack dab in the middle of San Telmo, was the perfect place to venture out & experience this historic part of old Buenos Aires.
Wi-Fi worked well, as did the large, flat screen TV. Lots of closet space to hang or lay out the contents of our luggage. Modern kitchen appliances with a good coffee maker and adequate cookware and lots of elegant wine glasses too. There is an extra bathroom off the living room that might have better been remodeled into a laundry room, as there are already two bathrooms upstairs.
The managers were very accommodating to our needs. We would recommend this apartment to any family or two couples needing two private bedrooms. It would be unsuitable for a family with small children as the modern suspended stairway is rather open and unprotected.
My husband and I stayed at this apartment with another couple for a week in January. It was an absolutely ideal set up for us, with two bedroom/en suite rooms upstairs and lots of living space downstairs, all with quiet air conditioning which was essential for this part of the year. There was a wonderful outdoor patio where we ate most days as well as a large dinng room table where we were able to entertain dinner guests one evening. The apartment was well equipped for those who like to prepare their own meals. The big bonus was the nearby indoor San Telmo market, where we shopped for food most days. It has a good supply of butchers, fruit and vegetable vendors, a cheese store and the very best cafe for espressos, lattes, flat whites etc in all of Buenos Aires. Across the street from the market was a wine store with a good selection of wines from Argentina and elsewhere. The apartment is located on La Defensa which made it perfect for visiting the Sunday market and for strolling down to Plaza Dorrego in the evening to watch some local tango. One tip though - if you are coming or leaving on a Sunday, you have to be aware that the street is closed to taxis for part of the day. We found the location extremely convenient for visiting many interesting sites in BA. El Zanjon is just down the street and it is a short walk to Plaza de Mayo. There are lots of small shops to poke around in as well. What made our visit outstanding, however, was the constant help and attention that Ferran provided to us. He made sure that we could get a cab to the ariport early on Sunday before the market opened and helped to arrange for a rental car during out visit to Mendoza. He had numerous recommendations for places to eat and directed us to the San Telmo market as well as a local grocery store. He checked in with us several times to make sure everything was going well. Thanks Ferran!
We loved being so close to Plaza Dorrego. The apartment is beautiful. Perfest for two couples or a family
My husband and I and another couple rented this apartment for a week in late October. We all agreed that is was a phenomenal apartment- 2 complete suites upstairs (VERY comfortable beds) with living space downstairs, a well equipped kitchen, spacious living room and pleasant terrace. The location is perfect, just around the corner from Plaza Dorrego which has a number of bars with live music and street vendors. San Telmo is so much fun! Martin was very attentive and communicative both before and during our stay, going out of his way to accommodate us in every way. Truly a stellar experience!
This apartment was beautifully appointed and comfortable, with all the conveniences of home. It is perfectly priced, as well. The location is ideal in the lovely character of San Telmo. We walked half a block away our first afternoon there and saw tango dancing in the Plaza Dorego. Well, what could we do but order a glass of wine and sit down and watch. Every morning we went down to the corner for our English paper, The Herald. Martin was available to us at all times for questions and any problems and, of course, an initial orientation as to bank, bakery, laundry, groceries and pharmacy. And he also gave us the use of a cell phone, which turned out invaluable twice, once used as an alarm clock! We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it in a heartbeat.
