The owners sold another lake front property last year to purchase this one. It is a comfortable and relaxing home with magnificent views of the lake. The gentle sloping lot makes it easy to go from house to boat dock and return.
Just wanted you to know that we enjoyed your beautiful Lakehouse, the area, the lake, and the dock area. We fished almost every day, and did catch a few catfish and some brim.
The decor was just so quaint and homey, and everything we needed was there for us to use. The gift tray was a welcome that we will never forget, what a nice touch. Thank you also for that. We absolutely LOVED the back porch, so HUGE, and had so many different chairs, lounge chairs etc. We had breakfast out there, and spent so much of our time just enjoying the scenery. We had a fire one night on the lower patio which was also so memorable. What a neat table that could be used for a table and also a fire pit. Do you remember where you bought that from. We would like to get one for our back yard. We haven't seen one like that since we have been home and wondering where we could purchase one.
Another thing we enjoyed so much was the big bird feeders. We both (couples) love birds and have so many feeders at home, and it was wonderful to sit and watch the birds that were home to the Hartwell area. Ron even made a drawing of the big one so he could try to make one for ourselves.
It was such an enjoyable time, and we thank you so much for sharing your "home away from home" with us.
I was looking for a place close to my father and this was the perfect fit. My sisters and I visited for a week and it was fabulous. Every morning we were able to get up and sit on the porch to eat breakfast. This house has a great yard and a short walk down to the water.
We walked through the neighborhood area each day.
Close to many parks and both Anderson, SC and the city of Hartwell.
The house is spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the house is very clean.
If you are looking for a great place to stay while you are visiting the area, I highly recommend this home.
Spent a week at the house as a getaway with my husband, myself, sister-in-law and her husband. The house was spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms were on either end of the house which was nice as it allowed for quiet in the morning when some of the folks were up and others were still sleeping. The property was easy to find and while priviate it was close to many activities. We spend a day in Greenville, toured Shoeless Joe Jackson museum and ate at Smoke on the Water. Went to chuch on Sunday and ate at Fletchers in Hartwell. This is a buffet which I normally do not like but the food was both a good price and good. Drove to Toccoca and toured the museum which had both local history and was the site of the 1st paratropper training camp for WWII. Enjoyed the birds very much. Had a fire in the fire pit two of the nights. The stars were beautiful and would recommend a star chart there were so many visible.
Three of the folks with us are older and have some difficulty getting around but the house was one floor and only two stairs to get in from the driveway. There are stairs to get to the patio and firepit but the covered porch was very easy to enjoy.
The kitchen was one of the best equipped that we have had and we have been renting with vrbo.com for the last 10 years.
The owner was wonderful about providing info on the layout before we rented as I wanted to make sure it would be useable for everyone.
The walk to the lake was a bit difficult but I expect it was partly a function of how low the lake was.
This is the first property that we said we could see ourselves retiring to.
The grounds were very well kept and still had many blooming flowers,
The instructions on the operation of the air and heat were clear and we needed both during our stay. The house sits so you can enjoy the sunrise on the back porch and the sunset on the front porch.
A wonderful time and good memories.
Wonderful little getaway for me and my family. We stayed during the Thanksgiving weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was well-maintained and clean when we arrived. Much time was spent outside enjoying the view of the lake, and watching the many variety of birds at the various feeders on the property. It was a nice quiet place to rest and relax. This location can be a nice retreat or could be filled with hours of water activity and sight seeing. The owner was great to work with when settling on details of the visit and providing us with information. Would love to return someday, and would recommend this to others.
Anna and I stayed here August 28 through September 3rd 2011 for the America Bass Anglers Couples Bass Championship. The location was superb as it was easy to find traveling north on Hwy 51 out of the city of Hartwell and dead ending into the small community near Dew Drop Circle.
We spent the week with another couple and the 3 bedrooms was more than enough room. The living and dining rooms were large as well as a nice kitchen and dinette. The washer and dryer were in a utility room under air that made it nice and comfy doing our laundry. A nice LCD tv with cable/satellite (not sure which) was great as well as wireless internet on our laptops which was very convenient.
The sliding glass door from the dining room opens out to a spacious deck with 3 nice tables and lots of chairs. Both a gas grill and charcoal grill made grilling out a pleasure. An outdoor patio was awesome with some very comfortable cushioned chairs and a great view of the dock and lake.
The front driveway can easily accomodate at least 3 fully hooked up bass boats to their vehicles that makes it perfect for a bass fishing outing for family and friends. The neighborhood is very quiet and clean with several retired folks living out their golden years.
A nice boat ramp is about 3 miles away and very nice with plenty of parking as well as a floating dock.
The owner was very helpful in answering all my questions prior to arrival and we followed their simple clean up policy (trash, linens removed, etc) and I received my deposit back promptly. Overall, the place was awesome and a great value! Highly recommended!!
The location was very easy to locate, my family was impressed with the accomodations. The photos were as or better than expected.I would choose this property for another vacation and would highly recommend to other vacationers. Great getaway from the city very nice historic towns near by. I traveled from Connecticut to enjoy the peace and tranquilty.
