Some comments from recent guests-
'i enjoyed my stay at 'hale sweet hale' very much.
the house is a well appointed two bedroom, nestled
in the jungle. the peace and solitude it offers are wonderful,
yet it's just minutes from the volcano. i especially enjoyed reading out on the back lanai looking out over the lawn to the jungle.
''There is no small detail you did not provide for. Thank you for sharing you idyllic hideaway. I especially enjoyed the orchids in the trees.'
“After a long trip halfway around the world, we could have had no better place to relax.
Everything was more than we could have hoped for. We were greeted with a warm welcome message and fresh supplies of everything we needed to feel right at home.
If you are in need of a true 'get away from it' without being too far away from creature comforts, this is the place to stay.”
'Hale Sweet Hale is truly a haven in the rainforest! Love the smell of the cedar, and the skylights make this place truly airy and bright.'
“It was so convenient for our visit to Kilauea National Park, being only 5 minutes from the entrance. We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful setting, surrounded by lush green ferns and lovely hydrangeas. It seemed so removed from everything, but it was just a short distance from the main highway. The cottage was so sweet and beautiful, and comfortable. We just loved it! We definitely would like to go back and stay for a longer period of time to experience more of this peaceful retreat.”

We found Hale Sweet Hale through the coconut wire. It took a lot of love and work to transform Hale Sweet Hale into what it is today- full of ALOHA. There are features here that you won't find at your typical vacation rental. Many things at Hale Sweet Hale have a unique story behind it and make it truly your home away from home.
We had a very pleasant 5-day stay at Hale Sweet Hale. The place is as promised, well equipped, clean and comfortable. The hot tub is a nice extra. The back yard and lanai are exceptional. Being literally 5 minutes from Volcano National Park is a treat. If you can arrive in daylight for the first time it will be easier to find, as the road is very small and very dark! .
This was a perfect house for us. We only had two nights in the Volcano area and the house was a great location. It was so peaceful and quiet, had everything we needed. Very difficult to find in the dark especially when the street sign for "Hale Street" wasn't there.
I was really impressed with the cleanliness of this vocation house! The hot tub was really awesome and very romantic. The only issue that was pretty minor is that the bedroom was pretty small and had no place to unpack.
This was a charming property, it was very small- and the three of us were a bit cramped with our suitcases. I don't think it really matters tho because you spend most of the time at the volcano, we stayed for two nights and that was plenty of time to see stuff at the park. The only really disappointing thing was that in the middle of our stay the hot tub was serviced/ turned off and took the entire day to heat up... We were really looking forward to it after a long day of hiking. I think at least we should have told before or the hot tub should have been serviced on a day when there were no guests. Other than it was a good property and we enjoyed our stay.
Romantic house surrounded by nature. Outside Hot Tub in midst of nature.
And all luxury inside house (internet, tv, kitchen, etc).
5mins from Volcano National Park.
We arrived close to sun down and had a bit of trouble finding the cabin although the description was accurate. It seemed to be located in a very secluded location in the rain forest but in the light of day we could see there were other properties near us but all very nicely hidden. We really had the feeling we were in the middle of the jungle!
The cabin was clean and well maintained and we spent 2 nights there visiting the Volcano National Park. We ate at the Vocano Lodge one night and cooked in the other night. The cabin is very close to the Volcano National Park and we had thus the opportunity to go there at night and see the glow of the recent vent.
We had to buy firewood and make a fire inside the cabin one night as it got quite cold which we did not quite expect. There is no central heating (it's a log cabin) but one can make a fire. It doesn't heat the whole house though.
I would recommend the property to others, it really has a special feel, and is large enough for a family with kids, it is clean and well stocked. It has a hot tub which we did not use but which would be quite romantic in the surrounding setting which is spectacular.
The one thing I did not like, which has nothing to do with the property itself, is being constantly reminded to submit a review. We had a lenghty trip and stayed in other places too so submitting a review was not a top priority.
Hale Sweet Hale offers a romantic getaway. Yet, many great Big Island attractions are a short drive away. At the end of the day, the hot tube and the views of the Koa Forest is a plus.
Hale Sweet Hale renewed my spirits. It was magical.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is less than a mile away. Spend the day exploring all the unique sites of the park. Visit the Farmers' Market at Cooper Center- lots of local grown produce and handcrafted items. You can view turtles at Black Sands beach and hike out to Green Sands beach at South Point.
