2015 'rentals can't be booked until AFTER Feb 1 at the earliest (don't even ask!) at this rarely available fully furnished private home on Jenness Beach in Rye. July and August weeks will NOT be available. Since this is used primarily as a family vacation home, everything you will need for your vacation will be there, including a wide selection of beach toys for the kids. Unpack your suitcase and wake up to the sunrise over the ocean, spend your days dozing in the swing on the porch, sitting on the comfortable patio overlooking the beach or sitting on the sand in front of the house. Bring a kayak or surfboard to ride the waves and explore the tidal marshes or bicycles to travel the quiet country roads. Take a whale watching cruise or a fishing trip from Rye Harbor, just a mile away. Pick your own lobster from one of the local lobstermen. Although Rye is a quiet community which retains much of its rural character, there are several nearby restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance. Restaurants and shopping abound in the quaint nearby towns of Exeter and Portsmouth as well as the Kittery Malls in Maine but the view of the ocean and beach in evening may keep you home for surf and turf on the porch or patio, watching the moon rise over the ocean.
Kids will love the expansive mile long beach with tidal pools to explore, but for rainy day fun, the Seacoast Science Center, whale watching and deep sea fishing, and the amusement arcades of Hampton provide a wide range of options. Several nearby public golf course and a state park in Portsmouth provide other choices for outdoor fun.
Well behaved dogs are welcome and Rye is the only seacoast town that allows dogs to access the beach during non-peak hour. As this house is not fully winterized, it can be enjoyed only from June until October. Rentals will be considered this year only during June and September. Please do not ask about July and August as there is NO available time. Only full week rentals considered
Our parents bought this house when we were children and my cousins and I have each spent almost every summer of our lives in this house. We never get tired of it and have watched our kids and now our grandkids enjoy the same pleasures of a beautiful beach, just made for digging forts and building castles, and the ocean with wave just right for budding boggie boarders. It's a rare little slice of paradise and nowhere is more beautiful when there's a full moon. One of my father's friends told me, when I was a child, 'You can travel the whole world and you'll never see anything more beautiful than Rye Beach!' I've been some beautiful places, but this is still where I come for my vacation.
Ocean breezes, never (almost never) too hot, nights cool enough to sleep even in summer, a beautiful beach to walk on, the ocean and sky to watch, always changing, the waves that are fun to play in. It recharges your own batteries.
Southern New Hampshire is a region of beautiful beaches and quiet towns, with the option of just sitting and watching the option If that isn't enough, there are surfing and paddleboard lesssons, deep sea fishing and whale watching, and outlet shopping a short distance away. An excursion to the White Mountains is a nice day trip
