Two story 4 bedroom 2.5 bathrooms with a pool right on the river-sleeps 10
Whistlers Lane Hidaway: This house is percherd on 2.5 acres of river front property on the North Umpqua River. It has 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, fireplace, huge kitchen, formal dining area, living room and entertainment room. The kidney shaped pool and manicured grounds give you that private resort feeling.
My friends and I spent a wonderful three day weekend at Whistlers Hideaway. We were there September 4 to September 7. Sherry was always prompt in answering my questions and making us feel welcome. Tina, the property manager, was the greatest! She is friendly and most helpful. I liked her immediately when she showed us around the property. Tina really wanted to make sure we were happy there, and even called to make sure the temperature of the pool was just right -- which it was. The house was well supplied with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen worked great for group dinners. The four bedrooms worked well for our group. There are two bedrooms that are connected to each other, and there is an outside door which can be used if you don't want to walk through the other bedroom. That was not a problem for us at all. Each bedroom had nice furnishings and all the bedding necessary for cool nights. The whole house is well built, comfortable, homey and exceptionally clean. The living room and den, with a large TV, worked very well for our gatherings. The outdoor pool was perfect. The river is a short walk through a beautiful lawn area. We swam, and enjoyed being by the river very much. The views out of the windows of this house are so woodsy and beautiful. And it is private. The landscaping is mature and admirable. The house is close to many marvelous waterfalls that we visited. But just being at the house was the most pleasant. It is peaceful and soothing to the soul. We have just recommended it to a friend of ours. And yes, we are wanting to come next summer.
This property is exactly as described...clean, roomy and in a wonderful setting. We stayed 5 days in August, the house had all the convenience of a home. We hiked many trails of the Umpqua state parks and visited all the nearby falls. The family spent lots of time in the yard, reading and flying quads. I didn’t have enough time to river rafting or kayaking but is probably possible to kayak all the way from Glide or further away to the home’s backyard!! For supplies, Roseburg is only 20 min away. We also drove 70 minutes to Grants Pass to ride the Jet Boat and eat at Taprock, really worth it. I did not give the house 5 starts for 2 reasons: a) The pool really needs a water heater. The water is really cold and in a 95 degree weather we couldn’t stay more than 5 minutes inside the pool (we live in San Diego). It would had been fantastic to be able to chill in an inflatable bed or read in a float recliner inside the pool!!! b) The internet service is very slow. It works for casual browsing, checking email and streaming a movie at very low resolution but I had to drive to town to VPN when needed to work. If the pool gets heat up I’ll be back!!! :- )

We spent a happy and contented week at the Whistlers Lane Hideaway. The home is perfectly equipped. The lounge gave a great view of the birdlife and wildlife every morning. The media room kept the children happy once the swimming had finished.
We used the property as a base to explore the trails and waterfalls of the North Umpqua and then beyond to Crater Lake. It is also well located to visit the wonderful vineyards west of Roseburg.
We really enjoyed staying at this house. The property is beautiful and wooded. The pool was well maintained and the decks were awesome. I will warn you that the pool is not actually heated as the post says. We even called to ask. Because it is shaded most of the day it can be pretty cold.
The kitchen is big and full of stuff. I would have actually appreciated a few empty cabinets to store 4 families worth of food for 5 days. But, there were lots of handy kitchen gadgets.
The biggest problem for us was the bedrooms. The description is not clear at all that one of the 'bedrooms' is through another. This is a problem with small kids and privacy. Here is how the rooms lay out. - master upstairs with tub/shower/toilet attached - 2nd bedroom downstairs with queen bed( or maybe double) and love seat. - 3rd bedroom downstairs with two single beds. Under each of those is a pull out trundle bed these are also single mattresses. - 4th bedroom is through the 3rd bedroom and has a pull out couch. - bedrooms 2, 3, and 4 share a small downstairs bathroom with a shower.
We made it work but were definitely a bit let down by the lack of heat in the pool and the room layout. If these things are not an issue for you it is a nice rental.

Owner's Response: The pool is heated at a steady 72 degrees.
There are not many vacation rentals along the North Umpqua. When searching for a place to vacation with family I reviewed a few other homes and none of them completely met our needs. Upon finding this hidden gem I immediately booked it six months in advance. We were not disappointed. The property is beautiful with a wonderful swimming pool. The kitchen was well supplied and large enough for several people to be prepping and cooking at the same time. We enjoyed watching the deer each morning as they casually grazed in the meadow below. The pool is well maintained, although a few small tree frogs seemed to want to share it with us....it only added to the fun and the memories for the grandkids.
There was plenty of hot water for all our showers and a large nice laundry room. The library downstairs was quite extensive and my grandson enjoyed reading the "Discovery Books". The entire family agreed that this was a home to keep on our "rental list".
Such a fantastic home! We loved every minute spent here. Great location and friendly and helpful property managers. The views from this home made our vacation that much more spectacular! The home was spotless (and I am picky!)
Roseburg is situated at the heart of the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua in scenic, Southwestern Oregon. On Interstate 5, it is 67 miles south of the state's second largest city, Eugene, and 123 miles north of the California border. It is 79 miles to Diamond Lake at the summit of the Oregon Cascades and just 20 miles more to Crater Lake National Park.
