This 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom is located on 2.5 acres on the North Umpqua River where steelhead and salmon spawn right off the property. The view from the house of the river, grounds and pool side are absolutely breath taking. Your own private resort.
We spent a happy and contented week at the Whistlers Lane Hideaway. The home is perfectly equipped. The lounge gave a great view of the birdlife and wildlife every morning. The media room kept the children happy once the swimming had finished.
We used the property as a base to explore the trails and waterfalls of the North Umpqua and then beyond to Crater Lake. It is also well located to visit the wonderful vineyards west of Roseburg.
We really enjoyed staying at this house. The property is beautiful and wooded. The pool was well maintained and the decks were awesome. I will warn you that the pool is not actually heated as the post says. We even called to ask. Because it is shaded most of the day it can be pretty cold.
The kitchen is big and full of stuff. I would have actually appreciated a few empty cabinets to store 4 families worth of food for 5 days. But, there were lots of handy kitchen gadgets.
The biggest problem for us was the bedrooms. The description is not clear at all that one of the 'bedrooms' is through another. This is a problem with small kids and privacy. Here is how the rooms lay out. - master upstairs with tub/shower/toilet attached - 2nd bedroom downstairs with queen bed( or maybe double) and love seat. - 3rd bedroom downstairs with two single beds. Under each of those is a pull out trundle bed these are also single mattresses. - 4th bedroom is through the 3rd bedroom and has a pull out couch. - bedrooms 2, 3, and 4 share a small downstairs bathroom with a shower.
We made it work but were definitely a bit let down by the lack of heat in the pool and the room layout. If these things are not an issue for you it is a nice rental.

Owner's Response: The pool is heated at a steady 72 degrees.
There are not many vacation rentals along the North Umpqua. When searching for a place to vacation with family I reviewed a few other homes and none of them completely met our needs. Upon finding this hidden gem I immediately booked it six months in advance. We were not disappointed. The property is beautiful with a wonderful swimming pool. The kitchen was well supplied and large enough for several people to be prepping and cooking at the same time. We enjoyed watching the deer each morning as they casually grazed in the meadow below. The pool is well maintained, although a few small tree frogs seemed to want to share it with us....it only added to the fun and the memories for the grandkids.
There was plenty of hot water for all our showers and a large nice laundry room. The library downstairs was quite extensive and my grandson enjoyed reading the "Discovery Books". The entire family agreed that this was a home to keep on our "rental list".
Such a fantastic home! We loved every minute spent here. Great location and friendly and helpful property managers. The views from this home made our vacation that much more spectacular! The home was spotless (and I am picky!)
Owner Sherry was warm and kind in our email correspondence during the planning of our trip. Our GPS easily directed us to beautiful Whistler's Lane Hideaway where caretakers, Tina and John, met us and showed us around the property. They were very kind and helpful, sharing their knowledge of the area and were available to answer any questions. The house is extremely comfortable, inviting, well- maintained and spotlessly clean. It has every amenity one could possibly imagine and was stocked with items you would not normally find in a vacation rental. The kitchen is a cook's dream and there is a gas barbque grill in the yard as well. The living room has floor to ceiling windows which offer a spectacular view of the pool and grounds all the way to the river. We were treated to deer feeding in the clearing every morning and evening. The bedrooms are very comfortable and furnished with extra sheets, blankets, throws and pillows. We kept the windows open, allowing the sound of the river to soothe us to sleep. There are many decks off various rooms of the house with picnic benches and a swing to enjoy the peace and serenity of nature all around. There is a media room with large screen tv for watching movies if you like and we were easily able to link to home's Wi-Fi. The laundry room provides washing and drying capability so no need to overpack. The pool is fabulous and pool house contained many toys and floats for hours of play and/or relaxation. There is a lovely footbridge that leads to the river. We took camping chairs from house and a picnic basket and spent much time fishing and playing in the river. We were very glad to have our river shoes as the rocks were very slippery but we became adept at maneuvering across the river to the little rock islands. There is no need to leave Whistler's Lane as it feels like a resort but the area offers many hiking trails, lovely waterfalls, a covered bridge, fish hatchery and scenic drives. At the Colliding Rivers Viewpoint there is a visitor's center that provides a multitude of information for surrounding area and the rangers were very helpful. We also enjoyed lunches at Munchies and Umqpua ice cream from Idleyld Trading Post. Our visit was terrific and Whistler's Lane was what made it so wonderful. We enjoyed it so much, we plan to make this an annual trip! Thank you, Sherry, for sharing your home and thank you Tina and John for all your assistance and knowledge. You made this a great experience. See you again soon!
From the minute you walk through the front door, you know this is not just a house. It's a home. My husband and I were greeted by John and Tina. Our GPS gave us a little challenge with finding the home. When I called John and Tina for directions, they talked us right in. They are a great source for information on the entire property and area. John and Tina were available for any and all questions. They even slipped in quietly to adjust the pool temperature for our needs! My husband and I were looking for a few days of peace and relaxation. We got that and so much more. We felt as though we stepped into another time and place. The home owner, Sherry, was very warm in her emails to me. Sherry, you were so right. We didn't need to leave the property! There is something new to explore around each corner. The home is inviting and comfortable. You can see all the little touches that show the love that is placed in this home. The property is well maintained in every way. There are story book hiking trails nearby as well. We packed a picnic lunch and stayed by the pool for hours each day. We would listen to the sounds of nature all around us. The deer didn't mind us at all. We picked up a few basic food needs nearby for our first night. There's a friendly local market down the road. The little market has amazing burritos, sandwiches and pasta salad. The kitchen in the home had everything we needed to fix our favorite meals. My family and I are looking forward to our next visit. We would love to get one more visit in before winter hits here in Central Oregon. If not, we will plan a visit for next Spring! This is now my official happy place. Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us! Dennis and Tammy R.
Roseburg is situated at the heart of the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua in scenic, Southwestern Oregon. On Interstate 5, it is 67 miles south of the state's second largest city, Eugene, and 123 miles north of the California border. It is 79 miles to Diamond Lake at the summit of the Oregon Cascades and just 20 miles more to Crater Lake National Park.
