Located in the charming village of Suttons Bay the "Up North Retreat" is a perfect get-away-from-it-all location. This Glenn Arai designed home offers a modernist style with thoughtful consideration for its building site. Situated on a forested hill, it offers a tranquil setting under the shade of towering trees. Relax on one of the 4 decks with a bottle of tasty local wine, some hand crafted cheese or grill the catch of the day on the provided gas grill. Only 3 blocks to the beach, marina, shopping and so much more. You can play at the beach all day but have the chance to escape from the busy summer crowds when you arrive back to the house.
Up North Retreat will sleep up to 4 with 1 Queen and 1 Full bed. Sheets and towels are included. Washer and dryer. There is a full kitchen. Cable TV, WiFi . Small pet considered.
Suttons Bay is located 14 miles from Traverse City. This is a great location for visiting Leelanau County. There is a fantastic beach right in the village of Suttons Bay on Grand Traverse Bay as well as a marina. Public library offers visitors a nice spot for renting videos and books. Bike and canoe rentals are available in town. Great places to dine in town too. Northport and Omena are an easy trip to the north. Leland is located 15 minutes west. If you are thinking of taking the ferry, this is where you would catch the boat. Enjoy shopping in Fishtown right on Lake Michigan. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a 30 minute drive along the M-22 corridor.
THE TOWN OF NORTHPORT – This wonderful area is worth the drive! Travel north from Suttons Bay along the M-22 corridor that curves around the bay through vineyards and orchards to the beautiful town of Northport. At the very northern tip, this quaint town offers you art galleries, shops, roadside stands, a marina, parks and sandy beaches. Check out the not-to-be-missed dog parade every summer! Music in the park every Friday night in the summer. Pick up gifts while you???re going through town. Don’t forget to stop at the friendly Barb’s Bakery that offers yummy cinnamon rolls and a steaming cup of coffee or the Garage Bar and Grill for a great lunch.
Visit the Leelanau State Park just north of the village with fantastic views of Lake Michigan or spend some time at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse and State Park. Also not to be missed is Peterson Park and Christmas Cove for their beautiful Manitou views on sugar-sand beaches.
