Summer's not that far away - time to plan your get-away! Stay connected - visit us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Waterfront-Country-Living/582242275147730

Imagine crabbing and fishing right off of your own pier, and watching the sunset on the creek every evening. This Cottage Living style home would make an excellent get-away weekend or a great summer retreat. Enjoy waterfront, country living in this 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home with pier; located along St. Jerome’s Creek on a 15-acre crop farm in Southern Maryland. St. Jerome’s Creek connects to the Chesapeake Bay, making it easy access for boaters – you can bring your boat and tie up to the pier (which has electric).

The house and area are “shore-side, country”; its location is premier for crabbing and fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. It is perfect for folks who enjoy fishing, crabbing, boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, wind-surfing, pedal boating, biking, wildlife/bird-watching, long walks, quiet sunsets, star gazing, peaceful sunrises, outdoor BBQs, relaxing in the sunshine, yard lounging, and/or simply chilling out.

This clean, comfortable, Shore themed home has a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, satellite TV, DVD/VCR, wood-burning fireplace, supplies for crabbing and fishing, a gas grill, and fire pit (just right for s’mores with the kids). Sleeping arrangements include: queen bed [master bedroom]; queen bed [bedroom 1]; 2 twin beds [bedroom 2]; queen sleep sofa and twin sleeper oversized chair [living room].

Autumn brings lots of options for fun including a county fair, wine festival, farm market, oyster festival, corn maze, ghost walk, Christmas village & lights, etc. Should you decide to wander about the area, you’ll find plenty of dining and shopping (including antiques) about 20 minutes away in Lexington Park, or a bit further (30 minutes) to Leonardtown. If history is your interest, Point Lookout State Park (a Civil War site) is also about 20 minutes south and hosts miles of protected land suitable for biking, jogging, beach walking or enjoying nature. St. Mary’s City, the original capital of Maryland (host of several fall events), and Sotterly Mansion (host of the Sotterly Plantation Winefest & other fall events) are also nearby. If you want a day trip, you may consider Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington DC or King’s Dominion!

This home is positioned so close to the Chesapeake Bay, that you won’t want to miss the opportunity to spend a day charter fishing or enjoying a late afternoon, sunset cruise – fall sunsets are FABULOUS! Let us know and we'll coordinate arrangements with Fish The Bay Charters, located just one farm over.

Geared for casual living, we're available to provide flexible arrangements to accommodate folks in town for weddings, graduations, fishing charters, or other events. It’s just right for the family vacation or that quick get-away to recharge your batteries.

About Phil or Stephanie Langley

Phil and Stephanie are locals - born and raised in Southern Maryland. Phil is a coast guard approved, licensed charter boat captain who has worked as a commercial waterman. He has spent many years fishing, crabbing and oystering on the Chesapeake Bay. Their appreciation of country living on the Chesapeake watershed has prompted them to extend the Chesapeake Country experience to their fishing clients and others. Captain Phil is eager to share his knowledge - from catching fish to cookin' crabs!

Why Phil or Stephanie Langley chose Point Lookout

When the neighboring farm (Phil's parent's home) became available in 2010, the weekly rental idea stepped closer to reality! This property is a compilation of waterfront, pier, large yard, corn/bean fields, and a comfy - well appointed home - complete with beautiful sunsets and tranquil mornings.

What makes this house unique

It's a wonderful place to experience shore-side, country living for your next summer vacation; that special occasion, or holiday treat! It's just right for a get-away with the girls, a long fishing weekend for the guys, a week vacation with the family, a 'new' Thanksgiving tradition or a Christmas retreat - the possibilities are endless.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had a great week at your get-away. Boys enjoyed kayaking the creek. Had a great time fishing & crabbing off the pier. Thanks for all the extras at the house. We look forward to visiting next year!

Moment of Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

The Chesapeake Charm lives up to its name. Above the fireplace mantle is a painting of a waterman, alone on his boat, working. The title of the painting " Moment of Tranquility" captures the essence and charm of the rental home which is ideally located between beatiful sunrises and sunsets, and a calming water view. To this, add the graciousness of the owners, Phil and Stephanie, and an inviting home.

Owner's Response: Your words bring me a smile. The "waterman" in the painting is my dad, who happened to be captured on canvas by one of our talented local artists - Mary Lou Troutman. Little did she know at the time, just how accurately she captured dad - in his favorite environment, doing his favorite thing.

Waterfront Retreat

  • 5 of 5

If you enjoy water related activities in a tranquil setting then this is a must rental. We towed our boat from Ohio and launched it across the creek from the property. The dock easily accommodates boats of varying sizes. We were able to enjoy cruising around the picturesque creek which has easy access to the Bay. The crabbing was excellent and we had steamed crabs every night during our stay. Phil and Stephanie were very accommodating and the house was clean and well maintained. Every summer we rent waterfront homes in Maryland and I can honestly state that this was one of our best rentals.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. It's great when folks are able to get out on the creek/bay and fully enjoy the area! Next time around we'll have to see if we can add a little fish to go with those crabs!

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a relaxing vacation spot. The house was spotless and very comfortable. We had such a good time hanging out on the pier, cooking on the grill, watching the wildlife, and kayaking. All of the things we needed (grill, kayaks, fishing rods, fire pit, etc.) were provided. We could have had fun without leaving the house at all. But, we did take our bikes to Point Lookout State Park and we also made a stop at Slack Winery. Such a beautiful area. We can't wait to go back to Chesapeake Charm!

AMAZING PEACEFUL PLACE

  • 5 of 5

The property is amazing as well as the areas that surround it. Upon our arrival the house was impeccable and the yards very well kept.

The owners are wonderful and extremely attentive, always ready to answer the questions we had about the area which we were new to. (and had quite a few!!)

There are Kayaks available on the property for strolls in the creek, which our teenagers enjoyed very much. The sunsets are breathtaking as well as the bird sightings, specially for a city person

The property has everything you may need as if you were at home, very tastefully put together and decorated.

This is definitely the best choice for a home away from home. Definitely coming back soon..

Thank you Steff and Phil for everything!!
