This quaint historic home is located in the Carolina Heights neighborhood of downtown Wilmington. The 1921 brick colonial is only 15 blocks from the riverfront and has much to offer. The riverfront has a multitude of activities, shops and restaurants. The antique district is also only 10 blocks away, located around Castle and 5th. The city offers two larger shopping experiences with Independence Mall and Mayfaire Town Center, not to mention the hundreds of other boutiques all around the city. Wrightsville beach is approximately a 15 minute car ride from the dwelling with Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Ft. Fisher (home to the NC Aquarium) being 30 minutes away. The city offers many spots for children: Fit for Fun on 10th Street(ages 6 mo. to 5 yrs.), The Children's Museum located downtown on 2nd and Orange (ages 2 to 10ish), Monkey Joe's, Jungle Rapids, skating rinks, an ice skating house, the list goes on...
The house, itself, went under an extensive renovation between 2007 and 209. It was recently furnished in May of 2010 with new and antique pieces. The residence, which was completely gutted and rebuilt from the brick shell inward, still exudes all the charm and grace of historic homes, but has all the modern conveniences necessary to make your stay memorable.
This dwelling offers 5 spacious bedrooms located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The second floor has a full master suite with double vanity, separate shower, claw foot tub and walk-in closet. The other two rooms on the 2nd floor sleep six people (a queen in one room and a queen and full in the other). These two bedrooms share a beautiful hall bath. The third floor has a queen bed in one room and two twins in the other. These two room share a hall bath as well.
The living space downstairs contains a sitting area in the grand foyer, a formal dining room with large dining table, and a spacious and comfy living room with a large flat screen television. The first floor also houses the fully equipped, custom designed kitchen with dual fuel stove, French door refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, farmhouse sink as well as an eat-in nook. Off the rear of the kitchen, guest will find a separate walk-in pantry with second refrigerator, laundry room with sink, powder room and a lovely view of the fenced in back yard. The house also has a side porch that can be accessed through the French doors directly off the living room area. Furthermore, the residence is child friendly and a small group of toys have been provided on site.
