Great accommodation in Curacao
We just returned from a three week scuba diving vacation in Curacao. This villa was an ideal base for our activities. The majority of our dives were done through Ocean Encounters in the Lions Beach area ... it was relatively easy to access from the villa, although it took a bit longer in the mornings when our dive boat left early due to higher traffic volumes on the roads.
Returning to the villa was great at the end of a day where we often had long boat trips and were tired and hot. The greatest feature of all was the pool, where you can get in and quickly escape the humidity and general heat of the day. We did encounter some mosquitoes but were well equipped with high deet bug sprays.
We had lots of room for the four of us, and as others have said most of the time is spent outdoors on the decks or in the pool. The air conditioners in the bedrooms were perfect to get an adequate sleep at night in the heat.
The only minor difficulties we had were the furniture in the living room area (we found it not very comfortable to sit in for very long), we couldn’t get the ignitor to work on the barbeque (so we bought a small butane lighter), and we never did find the gym in the house that was mentioned on the web site. These things, however, did not detract from our experience in a significant way ... it was easy to cook there, there were plenty of dishes, and we were close enough to access most of the amenities that interested us.
One mistake we made was leaving our visit to Westpunt for a shore dive, and meals at Fishalicious and The Wine Cellar until the last week. We enjoyed all of these places and wished we had gone sooner, so we could have done them more frequently. We also enjoyed the food at the Wilhelmina Plein Cafe downtown and De Klein Wereld. We also ate at some other places such as Zanzibar, the Boathouse, and Il Forno and they were okay. Many evenings, however, we cooked at the villa and enjoyed the experience!
Luisa was helpful to us in the couple of times we interacted with her. Jennifer came on the first week but we didn’t meet her then, and she also came on the second week and did a good job of cleaning the unit, we didn’t see her again after that visit. Bjorn (the owner) was quite helpful from the initial contact until our trip was completed. I like the fact that the whole rental operation has been well thought through and established.
A great experience and I would recommend this facility to others visiting Curacao!
Owner's Response: Hi Joseph, thanks for staying with us. I'd also like to take this opportunity to reply on your feedback.
Strange that you never found the gym, it is located right next to the garage. The BBQ worked ok when the property manager tested it now. Next time, please call the property manager Luisa directly and she'll sort any issues for you.
The furniture is actually high-end imported from US, since it is difficult to find quality furniture on Curacao, anyway most people use the out door furniture anyway.
Welcome back any time Joseph!
Bjorn
P.S. did you see any lion fish up at westpunt?
