Omena House Rental Photos and Description

Sugar white sands and blue water are the main attractions in this beautiful paradise. Emerald green forests surround the property giving one the feeling of peace and privacy, and the beach is right out your door. Soak in the hot tub, go for a sailing adventure, or relax by a bonfire on the beach!

This is an amazing location that will have you coming back again and again on a pristine white sandy beach on West Grand Traverse Bay. Singing Sands is named as such because when you walk on the sand it 'sings' to you. This cozy 4 bedroom 3 bath rustic cabin will sleep 8 with 2 Queen, 2 Full. Home is 2 levels with 3 bedrooms upstairs and one on the lower level. Fully stocked kitchen. Flat Screen TV/VCR/DVD. No Cable. Washer/Dryer. Charcoal Grill. Linens are included. Pets considered. No smoking. No central heat, but a small pot-bellied stove in the living room and electric heat in 2 bedrooms.

Location is private in a wooded setting that opens to the beach. Big deck off of living room. Hot tub on lower level. Peace and quiet and spectacular in beauty. Minutes to the village of Northport where you can pick up groceries, gift shop, dine or have some beach fun at the marina. The town of Omena has a great winery and bar, art gallery and country grocery store. Pick up fresh local produce through the county. 15 minutes to Leelanau Lighthouse. Short drive to the casino. Lake Michigan is a great location for beach-combing and rock collecting. Traverse City is a half-hour away. Omena is home to a bird sanctuary for bird watchers. This is a magical place for an equally magical vacation. Your well mannered pet will be considered (please ask when booking).

Beautiful Setting/Poorly Managed

  • 1 of 5
This house is in a beautiful spot and could be a charming, but it is not maintained and seems to be a dumping ground for every awful, almost offensive piece of artwork and furniture the family does not want. We also walked into a house that had dirty linens laying on every bedroom floor and dirty towels in every bathroom. It also had a dirty table cloth on the table, had not been swept and their was cobwebs in every corner. One of the owners lived next door, but refused to come and speak to us face to face. Eventually we did get a call that someone was coming to make the beds and bring a clean towels. Three hours after we first arrived, we could finally go to bed. However, we still did not have firewood for the potbelly stove until the next day. When I did speak to someone on the phone, they did apologize and blamed everything on a caretaker that "apparently wasn't doing his/her job." For our troubles, the family decided we deserved 15% back of the rental fee. There are a lot of cute well kept houses for rent in this area. When I go back, I will find one in which the owners take pride in their property.

Clean, quiet and beautiful setting.

I rented this house for a couples vacation in the Fall. The location is perfect for visiting all of the wineries in the area. We were close to everything on the Leelanau Peninsula and short trip from the Old Mission Peninsula and Traverse City. We ended up having a few people cancel, so there were only 6 of us, but this house could easily accommodate 4 couples comfortably. There are four full bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms, so we all felt like we had room to ourselves and there are two living spaces and a dining room to accommodate all of us. The kitchen was ample although we never did end up cooking. There are more than enough restaurants in the area to keep us well fed and happy. The house has its own beach area and the immediate yard is wooded, so there is plenty of privacy. It is definitely off the beaten path, but the road is paved and it is only about a mile off M-22. The house was clean and towels and linen were provided to us. The hot tub was a nice luxury and it functioned just fine. The owners kept in contact with us through email and left an emergency phone number for us if there was a need for it. The views from the living room and master bedroom were wonderful, even though it rained almost the whole time we were there. I wish we could have used the deck and and beach area more, but the weather would not cooperate.
Hoping for better weather next year, since all of us a planning on making this an annual trip.
Thank you for providing us with a cozy house to stay in!
