I (Sherrie Posternak) am an artist specializing in the mediums of mosaic and encaustic (painting with beeswax). I teach and show my work locally, nationally, and internationally. I live part of the year in Tucson Arizona and the rest of the time in the city of Guanajuato in central Mexico. Besides art and travel, my major interest is improving and refining my knowledge of the Spanish language and Latin culture.

My husband Bill Wade is retired from the National Park Service in which he served for 30 years. He continues to consult on organizational quality and other issues pertinent to land use agencies and corporations. When he's not in front of the computer or traveling, he enjoys hitting the little white ball.

Sherrie Posternak purchased this house in 2004

On only our second visit to San Carlos, we decided to purchase a second home here. After looking at both condos and private homes, we agreed that we preferred the privacy and comfort of a detached building, a private home, our own little world. Every house in the neighborhood is different, and the uniqueness gives the area a sense of charm. We visit Casa Mosaico between 2 and 5 times per year. The rest of the time we like to share our love of the home and San Carlos, with you.

The attraction of Casa Mosaico is it's location slightly out of the very center of San Carlos, so close to the water and mountains, in a quiet residential neighborhood (Bahia sector). The location is central to beaches and other amenities on both sides of the bay.

BEAUTIFUL HOME IN SPOTLESS CONDITION

  • 5 of 5
This is a very comfortable home decorated by its artist owner and was in spotless condition. It has two nice outside sitting areas with bay and mountain views. Inside, the home has quality furniture, a nice kitchen and fast internet. Everythig worked as advertised which is not always the case in Mexico. It is only a five minutes to Marina Seca or Marina Real. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

SPECTACULAR LOCATION IN THE WORLD!

  • 5 of 5
What a beautiful place! My husband and I enjoyed the property with all its special details including beautifully painted and appointed rooms, a roof-top palapa overlooking the Bahia San Carlos, and the comfortable lounging living room. We were walking distance to breakfast near the marina and the other direction took us to private swimming in a sparkling water cove. It will be remembered and we plan to return with friends some day.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Sarah! You and your husband (and friends) are welcome back any time. I tried very hard in the decorating of the house to reflect the joyful ambiance of San Carlos.

Watch dolphins being trained for child therapy at the delphinarium in nearby Miramar. Take a several hour hike into the tropical oasis in Nacapule Canyon. Peruse through thousands of used books during the sale to benefit pet adoption. Enjoy a Greek meal and live musical entertainment almost every evening at the open-air restaurant La Palapa Griega. Explore the back roads between San Carlos and Empalme where there's an awe-inspiring forest of giant cacti. Take an early morning cruise with Gary's, learning about the nature and sea life of the Sea of Cortez. Visit the weekly tiangus (flea markets) in Empalme or Guaymas, where you can find everything from used appliances and clothing to spices and fonda-style meals. Walk the guided nature trail at the beach and estuary adjacent to Condos Pilar. Fill yourself to satisfaction with fresh shrimp or other seafood from many of the local restaurants (don't miss the incomparable 'molcajete de mariscos' at the last restaurant on the left down the dirt road in the little fishing village of La Manga.) Tour the pearl farm in Miramar and buy yourself a gift of jewelry designed with the pearls harvested here. Walk to the top of the iconic San Carlos mountain Tetakawi (carry plenty of water). Leave your worries at home and find your paradise in San Carlos where the desert meets the sea.
