Both spacious bedrooms are carpeted with comfortable queen beds. The larger bedroom (196 square feet) opens to the enclosed back deck. The second bedroom is 168 square feet. About Ed Grosswiler

Retired after a 30-year career running a public affairs consulting firm and, prior to that, a corporate government affairs director. This followed 20 years as a AP reporter, Congressional aide and director of an environmental organization.

Sammye, a native Oregonian, has been a banker and is now a Realtor, covering the metropolitan area. We each have two grown children - hers are boys and mine are girls.

With the benefit of more time, I exercise and bicycle for health and pleasure, allowing my waist line to frequently partake of many of Portland's fine dining restaurants. Traveling extensively is more pleasurable than the days of client-driven trips at the drop of a corporate notion. The challenge is getting Sammye away from her clients, but we are working on that.

With the exception of eight years in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles, I've spent the past 53 years living in Portland and enjoying the great Pacific Northwest.

I lived in the main floor unit of this 4-plex for 23 years, having purchased the building for its location - central to two of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods and within walking distance of all of downtown with the rest of the city easily accessible by bicycle. The airport is a quick 20 minutes by car, slightly longer by light rail.

The neighbors in the house are eclectic, friendly and respectful of privacy. The top floor neighbor has lived here longer than I did.

Portland at its Best!

When we travel, we like to pick neighborhoods, to become a part of. This house is just that. It is totally indicative of the neighborhood. We walked the streets looking at all the great houses and old apartment buildings. Portland has done well retaining its Past. This house is perfect in every way. Great landlord, who is at your bec and call. We really didn't need anything, because the house was well fitted and wonderfully cozy in very cold weather. It's just like going to stay with a long time friend. We shall return.
