The Marschall Creek Gastehaus is a story and a half limestone home with 2.5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a fully equipped kitchen and a wrap around porch. We're in a rural neighborhood with friendly neighbors and local deer who visit us at twilight and into the evening hours. It's perfect for the whole family, 2 couples or a group of friends to spend a getaway together.

Our main ranch, the Spotted Pony Ranch, offers additional lodging options if your accommodation needs call for just a cozy cabin for 2 or a larger group of up to 14. Please contact us at our Spotted Pony Ranch website for more information.

About The Owner

I stumbled upon Fredericksburg one year on a cross country jaunt back to California and never left! Although I have to travel for my primary engineering business I have a wonderful set of folks who live on the ranch and help me manage it as if it was their own. I have the luxury of coming home to my very own vacation spot where I can enjoy my horses and meet the special folks who stay at the ranch as our guests.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003
Why The Owner chose Fredericksburg

Beautiful and quaint old historic town, built by the Germans using native limestone rock. Small town but big city amenities-upscale restaurants, theater, music, shopping, fitness/spas and medical services. Town leadership very aggressive in providing activities for visitors year round and marketing to promote tourism. Still very rural, population under 10K close to Austin & San Antonio.

What makes this house unique

Bordered on the west by pastures and grazing cattle, helpful neighbors and wide open sky but only minutes away from the amenties of Fredericksburg.

House is outside of Fredricksburg, with a beautiful country setting! Stars at night and quiet country during the day! Our dog loved the outdoors! We'd stay here again!!

We had a fabulous time at this location, extremely comfortable, clean, great kitchen, wonderful host! She went out of her way to make our stay there one of the best we've ever had. Internet connection problem was solved within an hour. We would highly recommend this location. We had a great trip to Fredericksburg!

I was recently on vrbo planning another trip and just wanted to confirm everything the owner said she did to compensate for our tense interaction with her staff. She was wonderful to talk to, very apologetic and went out of her way to make sure that our next visit is comfortable. And we will definitely return!! It is lovely there! Book it, you'll love it.

Had a great stay in this property. It was in a good location for us, well situated between things we had planned. Short jaunt in to Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock, Wildseed Farms, various vineyards, Luckenbach, etc. Even took a quick trip to Blanco to visit Real Ale Brewery and eat at the Redbud Cafe. We thoroughly enjoyed being outside of town where we could enjoy the stars at night and have ample space for our dogs. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots/pans/utensils and we cooked many of our meals. We only used the downstairs area as it was just the two of us with our two dogs. The downstairs bedroom was huge and the king size bed was very comfortable. I was spoiled by all the space in the bathroom, too. Plus from the bathroom we had a perfect vantage point to eye the barn swallow (?) nest attached to the garage. The owners were very nice and helpful, we just wish we had more time to visit their ranch too!

Great place, rude staff

We were in Fredericksburg over Easter weekend with family from Iowa. We always take our Iowa guests somewhere fun in Texas and Fredericksburg has by far been their favorite. There are many wonderful places to stay for a perfect get away. This is one of them with a lovely porch, nice location, roaming animals which added so much to our experience and certainly our kids' (a goat dented our bumper and broke a headlight though), but you could probably find somewhere with nicer people to work with. We had a terrible experience with the cleaning staff-- she was curt, rude, and unreasonable. When I told the owner about our negative experience with her staff while praising her property and thanking her for letting us stay, I received no response. I love VRBO and can always find great places on this website.

Owner's Response: Allison didn't receive the e-mail that I had sent her immediately on receipt of hers but I had apologized for our housekeeper who was overly protective of her furnishings and a bit frustrated because Allison's party had left their belongings in the house and had not requested a late checkout and couldn't be reached to find out what their plans were to remove their belongings. It was only an hour or so later but sometimes we are on a tight schedule to get the house ready for our next guests and this was one of those times.

Allison and her party were very apologetic and did not intend to impact us in any way. It was unfortunate that this occurred and marred their experience with us.

I let Allison know that as of May 1 my business agreement with our housekeeper had already planned to be terminated so when Allison comes back to stay her experience should be 100% wonderful instead of the last few hours made uncomfortable by the our housekeeper's handling of their unplanned late checkout.

Allison and I had a great conversation and I also offered her a 10% discount when she and her family return to make up for those last few hours. By the way, our barnyard full of animals have also moved on, so your bumper and headlights will be safe!
