Hummingbird Hill earned its name in the company it keeps-- beautiful hummingbirds and a variety of other feathered friends! Make yourself at home in this recently remodeled and updated mountain chalet which comfortable sleeps up to 8 people.
We have maximized the mountain setting to truly appreciate nature’s gifts: a huge wall of picture windows invite the mountain views in to the main living area, a large deck to enjoy your meals outdoors while the bird feeders tempt the hummingbirds, and the 4-person hot tub intimately situated next to the koi fish pond. The mountain views must be seen in person to truly appreciate, but while you’re here, you’ll be able to enjoy them from almost every room!
Inside, you’ll appreciate a modern, gourmet kitchen, complete with all the amenities. The comfy couches in the grand room allow for complete relaxation. Enjoy peace and quiet, or choose from a DVD collection to play on the 60 inch screen TV. If you have a taste for the finer things in life, you’ll appreciate the fine craftsmanship in the wood and stone work accents throughout this home. The vaulted wall of picture windows brings new meaning to 'open floor plan.'
While venturing away from your “mountain base-camp”, you’ll be able to quickly and easily hop on to the interstate to get to downtown Asheville and the surrounding area, to take advantage of all the adventures this area has to offer. Explore the famously eclectic downtown Asheville with unique guided tours like the Brews Cruise, Herstory Asheville, and the theatrical LaZoom Bus. The interstate will also take you to the very popular Blue Ridge Parkway and Biltmore Estate. Or, drive only 10 minutes to bypass the interstate and head straight through the charming town of Black Mountain to hike the Montreat trails. Bring a snack and beverages to enjoy the sunset on Lookout Mountain.
If art and shopping are your forte, consider yourself warned...! You may find yourself overwhelmed with possibilities: from the galleries and shops in nearby Black Mountain, the high-end specialty shops in Biltmore Village, an array of galleries and stores in Asheville, to the diverse and growing River Arts District....be sure to check out the various gallery and studio strolls scheduled throughout the year.
With over 20 years experience of Asheville living, we are happy to make restaurant and other destination suggestions, just depending on your preferences. Many special food and drink-related events occur throughout the year, so be sure to research for those, such as the WNC Food and Drink Festival, the Small Plate Crawl, street festivals, etc.
Not only is this home an ideal candidate as your vacation retreat, several other features and services make this house unique. First, as our guest you are greeted upon your arrival with fresh flowers and a goody basket of local treasures. Next, as part of our Gourmet to You service, we can have the kitchen already stocked with fresh produce and groceries to your specifications. In addition to this service, you can choose already-prepared meals stored fresh in the fridge. Or, if you’d prefer, we can send French Home Chef, Jocelyn, to Hummingbird Hill, before or during your stay, to prepare a meal or two for you.
Especially attractive for the romantic getaway is another unique service we can arrange: the Ultimate R&R Package! Licensed and professional massage therapist will travel to Hummingbird Hill, give at least two hours of therapeutic massage (complete with aromatherapy, hot stones, herbal oils, etc), give custom-tailored instruction for couple's massage, and leave you with the massage table and a custom oil blend for you to play with for the remainder of your stay. You have the hot tub, now add a massage without leaving this special retreat! What a great surprise to arrange for your loved one!
