We have just arrived back home from a wonderful week staying in LIsbet's amazing apartment. It is light and airy, decorated beautifully, with everything you could need, including an incredible collection of books. The location is perfect - right on one of the most central and interesting streets in Reykjavik, yet not noisy. The views from the upstairs windows on a clear day were spectacular. Lisbet was a wonderful host. On the first day our flight arrived early and she let us check way ahead of time. She was always very friendly and available when we needed her, but otherwise inconspicuous. Highly recommended! Brett
Looking at the photos of the apartment we were expecting a stylish apartment. The photos do not fully reflect how fabulous the apartment is. We spent our time in the apartment appreciating Lisbet's artistic, eclectic decorating style. The apartment is adequately equipped which enabled us to start each day with a hearty breakfast ready for our adventures in Reykjavik. The apartment is located minutes from the main downtown street but is fairly quiet even on busy weekend nights full of young revelers. Both Lisbet & her daughter (Disa ?) were friendly hosts. Our family of four all highly recommend the apartment & would definitely stay here again.
We loved staying in Lisbet's apartment for a week in early June. It's two floors, the second and third, and she lives on the first. Living room, formal dining room, and small kitchen. Amazing light throughout. Beautiful big bath upstairs with an extra 1/2 bath down, which was great to have for three people. We were three friends traveling together, so the two bedrooms and spiral staircase worked fine. I agree that it may not be ideal for small children or anyone w probe doing stairs. It was perfect for us--I loved having the bedrooms on a seperate floor so someone could head up to sleep early. Also, given the cost of meals out, we saved a significant amount of money having coffee and breakfast in each morning. The coffee maker is a small stovetop percolator, which makes excellent coffee, but in small quantities, pack a french press if you like larger quantities of coffee. (We also brought our own coffee; though Iceland has endless good coffee, it's expensive, like all other foodstuffs) I can't say enough about the location. It is absolutely perfect--you are directly in the middle of everything. We had a rental car, as well, and never had a problem finding parking. It was, in the end, a great find. Hope your experience with the apartment and Iceland is a great as ours was.
We had such a great time and this place was a cool home base to walk to lots in Reykjavik! Owners daughter greeted us and was very nice and accommodating to needs. Very unique place won't disappoint we'll definitely go back! Love love love the bathroom. The cd music selection was awesome! Laundry is downstairs not a big deal just an FYI .....not in flat. Spiral staircase to bedrooms FYI if older. Loved all the windows....everything was beautifully decorated. Thx again!
Well, it's the first time I've been in Iceland, so I guess there might be lovelier ones, but I highly doubt it. I stayed in this absolutely magnificent apartment with my family for 10 days. And it was just what I wanted. Central location, easy walking anywhere, high rooms, filled with light, music there (if you want it, or if you can provide, the piano was cool, and the stereo system as good as mine...), bedrooms very comfortable, and the floors, yes the floors, just to kill for, that's for the fussier ones...
Anyway, I would recommend this whole heartedly. The owner is very kind and discreet, the views up to the church and to the street beautiful. One of the best holidays for me and my family.
We made a last minute decision to visit Iceland and were fortunate enough to have found this property. The apartment is spacious with a great kitchen, luxurious bathroom and two private rooms (one with a queen bed and the other with two single beds). There is good storage for clothes and we were able to settle in for a nine day vacation. The decor is very modern and comfortable. A great dining room, spacious sitting area with TV and couches make for a very social atmosphere to unwind after a day of all that Iceland has to offer. A grand piano and great views of the city complete the accommodations.
The location is within walking distance of all the old city attractions and perfectly situated. Although the apartment is within stumbling distance of some of the best party spots in the city, it is surprisingly quiet and we were never bothered by noise.
The hospitality and generosity of the host was incredible and we felt welcomed during our entire stay.
We recommend this accommodation, without reservation.
