Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

15 feet from Lake Leelanau shore, one mile to Historic Fishtown/Leland. Sleeps 4 comfortably. Living room with fireplace and sliding doors which open up to walk out deck/balcony overlooking the lake.

Wonderful lakeside cottage just a mile from Leland!

Beautiful A- Frame with plenty of light and sunshine to brighten up your days. This cottage is located on Robinson’s Bay and is a perfect place to relax, swim, or use as a base point to explore all the area has to offer. Beautiful swimming is available in a calm cove with a sandy bottom. Shares dock and drive with our other neighboring cottage. A buoy is provided for our guests that plan to bring their own water sports or boating. Our home has one master bedroom, and the loft is furnished with a queen size bed, to comfortably sleep 4 persons. This home was built in 2005 and boasts new furnishings to include a kitchen with granite counters, all new appliances, wood burning fireplace, built in stereo system, wi-fi, cable TV/VCR, and air conditioning. Large deck affords plenty of space to dine, read, or just relax and watch the sunset.

Leland is America at its finest! The pace is slow, the mood is easy, and families and couples alike love the area for its charm and simplicity. Walk along the lake to Fishtown ... the historic center of Leland where you can buy whitefish fresh from the boat. Gather your supplies at the Mercantile and pop across the street for breakfast at the Bluebird or a great cup of coffee and a muffin at the Stone House Bakery. Make sure you stop by the Village Cheese Shanty for a sandwich that is unmatched. Wander through the shops at your leisure, or just sit by the new dock on Lake Michigan harbor and watch the boats come in. Two favorite spots for locals are the Cove and Rick's Restaurant.. you can sit right by the waterfall that connects Lake Leelanau and Lake Michigan! In the mood for a burger, check out the Happy Hour, or an upscale alternative is the Riverside Inn., which offers beatutiful views of the river.

For the more adventurous, a five minute walk takes you to a nature trail that leads you to beautiful view of Lake Michigan, or a day trip to the Manitou Islands by ferry from Leland, or a climb up Sleeping Bear Dunes, the worlds largest moving sand dune, and picnic at the top of the dunes. Charter a fishing boat from Leland and have your catch smoked or cleaned right at the docks. Take a day trip to historic Mackinac Island, and watch as history unfolds at the Fort, be sure to buy some of that Mackinac Island Fudge.

Just a few minutes from your home base, Leelanau County offers many wineries and art galleries for you to explore. If relaxation is what you're seeking, come to this enchanting area to explore Leland, a historic 19th century fishing district that has been transformed into a unique charming village and shopping area.

About The Owner

My brother, sister, and I share ownership of two cottages side by side in Leland. I am a general contractor, my brother is a painting contractor, and my sister is a retired military officer. We've been coming here for nearly 60 years, the 4th generation of our family to vacation in this wonderful spot. We want others to be able to share the same expereicnes that we have loved in Leland.

Why The Owner chose Leland

This cottage was built in 2005 as additional overflow for our family which had outgrown our other cottage next door. This is the perfect solution so that we can all come up and enjoy the lake at the same time. Our children and grandchildren have developed the same love for the lake that we have as well. Lake Leelanau is a 23 mile long lake with the south end near Traverse City and the north end is Leland. It's a great lake for boating, swimming, or just enjoying the water. One of the features we love best about the area is that much of the area has remained unchanged since our childhood..It's charming and simple.. the perfect place to relax for a family vacation.

What makes this cottage unique

You can do everything in the Leelanau Penninsula from our centrally located home! From boating to sailing, to swimming to sunbathing, from shopping to wine-tasting, to eatting and resting.... from hiking and biking, to golfing and running.. It's all here!! We spend hours on the lake having lunch and jumping in for a quick cool down. We have friends over and listen to music and watch the sunset over the water. We take day trips to Mackinac Island, Charlevoix, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, the Manitou Islands, numerous wineries, and Traverse City is just a 20-30 minute drive if you feel the pull of city life. Then after a days adventure, we come home at night to a happy home filled with memories and bliss.

A beautifully appointed house with all the amenities to make for a very comfortable stay. The only drawback is the steep driveway leading to a busy highway. which wasn't apparent from the information we received.

We had a wonderful week in the A-Frame on Lake Leelanau. The owner was delightful to deal with and the cabin was beautiful. Clean, well-stocked, and so easy to live in; we couldn't have been happier with our stay.

Absolutely beautiful location, wonderful house (more a house than cottage). The accommodations were near new, in perfect working order and very clean. Could not have been better. Great owners, very helpful, friendly and honest. Would recommend all to use this rental - except of course when I want to rent it again in 2012!

What a Gem!

This house and location completely surpassed our expectations! The house was so clean and beautifully furnished--everything we needed was here! The lake was wonderful, too--clean clear water and nice sandy bottom. We enjoyed cooking out and kayaking each day--and we enjoyed having air conditioning, as the weather was very HOT! The owners are very accommodating and kind. We will definitely be back next year--counting the days already!
