This beautiful Victorian received the 2004-2005 Award for best Pacific Grove historic home remodel from the Historical Society.
The perfectly restored home features two bedrooms (spaced for ultimate privacy with each
having access to their own bathrooms), a spacious and open living room/dining room combination as well as a custom designed kitchen, comfortable den, quaint backyard deck and a laundry room.
Stroll east a few blocks and find yourself among the downtown boutiques and stores and as well as many of the nearly 60 restaurants located in Pacific Grove. Travel west the same distance and you will be standing on the shore of majestic Monterey Bay.
Recreational opportunities (golf, biking, kayaking), shopping and dining experiences and sightseeing excursions (17 Mile Drive, Monterey Aquarium, Big Sur) are all within easy reach of Pacific Grove and the famous Monterey Peninsula.
The description of the cottage matched our needs, and the location was perfect. We've never shared a rental with another couple before, and it worked very well for all of us. Having two bathrooms makes all the difference. It's a charming house in a quiet, but friendly neighborhood of similar homes. Everything inside is fresh, clean, and very well maintained.
We were busy every day and enjoyed evening strolls to the main part of town, just a few blocks away. Pacific Grove is our favorite location to stay anywhere on Monterey Bay. The Monterey Aquarium is spectacular, and the two guest passes are a welcome bonus, as you need to go more than once.
We will definitely recommend the cottage to our friends, and we hope to stay there again ourselves.
The accommodations were fantastic! We encountered many high-end amenities that we don't even have in our own home. The location was close to many sightseeing adventures. The owner was most accommodating and we received our deposit back almost immediately after we returned home from our vacation. The kitchen is completely equipped and we enjoyed cooking several meals. It was the perfect set up for two couples due to the private bathrooms for each bedroom.
Two couples had an enjoyable long weekend at this lovely restored/remodeled historic home. It's located a couple of blocks from down town with it's many shops, great restaurants, only a few more blocks to the bay, and within easy driving distance to the aquarium and Monterey wharf area. The house is very comfortable with a modern kitchen, and eclectic, interesting adornments. The neighborhood is quiet as opposed to the busier, nosier Monterey downtown. It fulfilled our expectations and needs, and Gary was quite accommodating and helpful. Thanks.
We stay in PG a couple times a year with another couple who grew up there, always a house rental, and up to this visit, always in the Asilomar area. We enjoyed this visit, though we missed the closeness to the sandy beaches, this is nice, a bit more sunny, an easy walk to town, bakery, and store... and to the walking and bike paths to lovers point and beyond. The Victorian is small, but nicely restored, well lit, clean as a whistle, well stocked for cooking and dining, and in general comfortable. One larger bedroom and one very small one. Wife and I slept in small one. Comfortable bed, tiny,(barely room to walk around bed), small, but nicely appointed bath across hall, . Friends in larger bedroom with nice adjoining bath complained about their bed sagging in the middle, otherwise they seemed happy. Quiet street, met a neighbor, an artist, nice chat, very nice fellow. Owner of rental, Gary, is very accommodating, prompt return of deposit with nice card and thank you. We would probably do it again, only stay a few more nights.
I have an annual conference that I attend in Monterey. I have stayed at this house for the past 4-5 years and every year I wonder at how comfortable I am there. It is tastefully decorated, is well-insulated and also easy to open up when the weather is nice. Gary is very quick to respond to any needs, of which I have rarely had. He has even allowed us to return after checkout to return the Aquarium passes so we could go on the day we leave the area. I come back year after year for a reason: It is the most comfortable house I could ask for.
A note about the beds in response to the dishonest 1 star review (that should be removed): I sleep like a rock every time and have never had any issues with the beds. I usually have someone with me to help me with the conference: At least 3 different people have slept in the 2nd room and never had any issues in there either.
We recently had the bad luck to have chosen this cottage for a weeks stay over Thanksgiving...The location was great, and most of the furniture was of good quality & comfort...except for the most important furnishings...The Beds....they are of poor quality, and sag so badly that no one got a decent nights rest the entire stay. I would not recommend this place to anyone wishing a restful nights sleep.
We were so pleased to find this fabulous home! It is so beautifully kept with TLC and so comfortable. Gary and Susan have thought of everything and were very responsive through the whole process. The location was perfect and we enjoyed walking in the neighborhood. Thank you!
