We are fishing and paddling enthusiasts that have explored much of the United States. We have paddled and fished many rivers in Michigan and found the AuSable River our favorite. So in 2003 we settled in Grayling for our recreational home.
We chose the Grayling area mostly because of the access to the AuSable River and it's tributaries. We also liked this location because it is centrally located in Northern Michigan making the rivers, parks and other attractions easily accessible.
We love our cabin because it is warm, homey, we have privacy and yet views of the river. The screened porch allows watching the river flow by without being bothered by the hatches that are common on the river.
beyond all expectations, well furnished, comfortable, gorgeous setting, and so-o-o clean. my husband says that it could become a habit all year round. we will be back.
Went with some friends for kayaking trip that we do every year. We usually do the Muskegon river but this year we tried the au sable. We loved the house and it was easy for us to start our kayaking trip at the house. The house is very clean and looks brand new - it also has all the amenities you could need!
My husband and two dogs and I had a wonderful three day weekend staying at this charming little cabin. The view from the very large picture window of the river flowing by, the birds at the feeders and the deer helping themselves to the birdseed helped keep cabin fever away. Evenings by the wood burning stove were very cozy. We snowshoed at Hartwick Pines and Wakely Lake both just a short drive. We enjoyed a very good fish basket at Spike's keg o' nails in Grayling which also has a great draft beer selection. We would definitely stay here again.
Everything was great; however, having some trout in a barrel would be helpful for us less than average fly fishermen!
Also, fished at Kneff Lake, but no fish there either. We really appreciated the very comfortable, clean, well-equiped cabin, and most of all that our dog was welcome. When we return to the Grayling area, we will have you at the top of our list. The listing description was very accurate and the owner provided excellent customer service. We would recommend this property. Goodale Bakery was a "sweet" spot - also enjoyed the Grayling Restaurant and downtown shopping. Thank you.
