Woodstock House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms/3 Bath Sleeps 6/7 Spacious Yard For Chilling Out or Entertaining

“Classically American,” our family home on the edge of Woodstock sleeps six to seven people.

(The completely separate, one-bedroom apartment at the driveway end of the house is separately rented from the main house and is not currently available.)

Keywords are welcoming, comfortable, convenient, character and color, all with an international flavor! Newly furnished for cozy comfort and fully equipped it.

The name of our house—Shanti Neer—means place of peace. It is a serene and spacious 2+ acre property. It is an ideal setting for family and friends to gather. The back yard is a great place for fun and games, and the Weber grill, screened dining-deck, and picnic tables are all ready for outdoor eating and relaxing.

All hardwood floors downstairs and new bamboo floors upstairs. Bedrooms are all upstairs and include two queen bedrooms and a bedroom with two twin beds, each with special new non-allergenic, soy foam mattresses. The fourth bedroom has a new, full-size, sofa-bed plus a desk for anyone with work to do or a book to write! Master bedroom and bathroom are en-suite, and there is a second full bathroom upstairs in the hall. A third full bathroom is on the first floor.

The colorful country kitchen has everything you need to make the best cup of coffee or cook up a storm, and it is laid out so that more than one cook can enjoy it at the same time! New appliances include a gas range top, double electric ovens, microwave, etc. The 28-ft open-plan kitchen/dining room is bright and airy and includes a table that seats 6 - 10. All ready for family breakfasts, a down-home meal, a sophisticated dinner party or a special celebration!

It’s an easy few steps round the brick wall divider into to the welcoming living room, where an original stunning diptych on the wall lends a soothing, restful feel to the space, and where everyone can comfortably sink into sofas to chill-out, talk, read, snooze or savor!

And a few steps from there, an inviting East-meets-West TV room/den boasts a stunning oriental carpet, embroidered pillows and hand-woven throws strewn over the love-seat and sofa. A new Samsung 46” TV is tucked away into a handsome Chinese cinnabar-red lacquer cabinet. Books and games are stashed on shelves for you to enjoy and peruse.

SETTING: Nestled in the woods on the edge of Woodstock, you are less than 10 minutes from the center of the town of Woodstock. But you are also just about twelve minutes away from Saugerties for great antiquing and HITS! And if you have Mall withdrawal, a fifteen-minute drive will take you to Kingston for suburban shopping, or a quaint visit to the Stockade Area where the original capital of New York State was actually placed!

THINGS TO DO: Woodstock, the original Colony of the Arts, is on the threshold of the 700,000-acre Catskill State Park, where a farming community settled by the Dutch in the 17th century found a way to accommodate all those crazy artists that arrived in the early 20th century. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains inspired the Byrdcliffe Art Colony, became the summer home of the New York Art Students League, and gave rise to the Maverick Concert Hall. There is more to do here than you can imagine!

There are great restaurants and cafes boasting international cuisine as well as American, boutiques, antique stores, health-food stores, an art store, a movie house, two book stores, an exceptional shoe store, and the best hardware store in the world. And, of course, you can visit Byrdcliffe and The Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, or you can hear great chamber music in the woods at Maverick.

Nearby you will find golf, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, tennis, river walks and even river dips, bike rentals, sledding and snow-shoeing. Check out galleries, the week-end flea market, mid-week farmer's market. And as you'd expect in Woodstock -- there’s a wide selection of yoga, massage, Pilates, Reiki, and Qigong, not to mention spa services. If esoterica is what you are after, psychic, tarot and astrological readings are of course always on offer! For fun, join the Sunday afternoon open drumming sessions on 'the village green' right in the center of town. You'll also find places of worship of many denominations: Catholic; Jewish; Christian; Hindu; Buddhist—Zen and Tibetan, plus several different spiritual retreat centers.

We invite you to come see for yourself and greatly look forward to welcoming you!

Amazing house near woodstock and ski resorts

  • 5 of 5

My family and my friends really enjoyed our stay. Robyn was really nice and turned the heat up before we arrived so we had a warm house when we got there. The house is close to Hunter and Windham ski resorts which is great for a ski weekend.

Relaxing Weekend in the Woods

  • of 5

My friends and I had a perfect stay here this past weekend. The house is beautiful and great for groups of 6-7 people. Barbecue and porch out back, perfect for grilling and spending time outside. House was all set up for us when we got there, very clean and made us feel at home right away. Would definitely recommend it to others!

We had a great time at Shanti-Neer! The house was perfect for our weekend getaway. It had everything we needed and was definitely spacious enough to hold all 7 of us! We especially enjoyed spending time on the back deck. Thank you, Robyn!

Calm and serene

  • of 5

Shanti Neer - Place of Peace. We were welcomed by Robyn, such a wonderful woman. The home was clean and very comfortable. The atmosphere was calm and serene. Our stay here was extremely peaceful. We all had fun, the kids and the adults. We looked forward to seeing the deer each morning. The horseback riding was great as were the other places we visited. We only had one complaint - the stay was too short:). We cannot wait to return.

Hi Robyn:

Thank you once again for allowing my family and I to stay in your beautiful home. We felt so at home there in fact that my 3 year old daughter told us she wants to move Your home was warm, cozy and inviting and this being our first time in the Woodstock/Kingston area, it made our visit so much more enjoyable. We look forward to our next visit in the future and will certainly be looking to be your guests once again.

Thanks again.

Perfect family-Friendly Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids, looking to relax and enjoy and this house did not disappoint at all. Robyn made sure we had all the info in advance and was very prompt in answering all our queries. The house was welcoming and fabulously decorated. The kids loved the spacious back yard and it was delightful to cook our meals on the outdoor grill and enjoy them in the gazebo. The decor is tasteful and the bedrooms were comfortable. It was perfect in every sense. We would love to come back.

Located in the Hudson Valley, our house is 100 miles north of Manhattan via the NY Thruway. Amtrak trains to Rhinecliff across the river are easy access from NYC. Trailways buses from the City stop in the center of the village. You’ll find we are both away from it all, and in the center of a lot! Lots of to see, lots of outdoor sport and action, music, arts and culture.

'Woodstock' -- legendary symbol of the Sixties, headlined Hendrix, The Who, The Band, Grateful Dead and it's still known for great live music -- chamber to classical to folk to jazz to classic rock to world music. While you're here, check out Radio Woodstock WDST 100.1fm -- it's good!

Always lots to do! Boutique & antique shopping; wine & distillery tours; scenic train-rides; fruit-picking & farm stores; farm-animal sanctuaries; outdoor Shakespeare theater; fiddle & dance camps; educational environmental camps; river tubing and kayaking; psychic & tarot readings! Film Festival in the Fall, Writers Workshops in Spring. In winter -- ski, snowboard, moguls, cross-country, nursery, downhill and racing, 25 minutes away. For art lovers, let the inspiration for the Hudson River School painters be yours too! Set up an easel outdoors or sign in to Woodstock Art School and visit many excellent museums and galleries. The Zen Mountain Monastery is not far, and ‘KTD’ the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Tibetan Buddhist Monastery up the hill from the center of Woodstock. Both are open to visitors and have monastery stores.

The neighboring village of Saugerties -- 8 miles away -- is 'home to the richest weekend in show jumping'. May to September top US horse shows take place here, courtesy of HITS (Horse Shows in the Sun). Having access to spectacular international show-jumping and dressage competitions right on our doorstep is a must for horse-lovers. Children under 12 are free, as is parking.

History buff? This region helped shape this country! In 1609 Henry Hudson sailed this way instead of the Northwest Passage. Close by Kingston, New York’s old capital, was burned by the British in 1777! And down river Fortress West Point began in 1778.

Over the Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge takes you to historic Rhinebeck’s fairs -- antiques, crafts, food & wine, sheep & wool, old cars, and the jam-packed County Show. Bard College's Frank Gehry Fisher Center is home to the American Philharmonic. Rt 9 takes you south to Hyde Park, FDR Museum, Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-Kill, the Vanderbilt Mansion and the CIA --Culinary Institute of America so stop by for a quick cafe break, or book a table at one of their classy restaurants. If contemporary art and sculpture is your thing, don't miss DIA Beacon and Storm King.

There’s so much more not listed here, but one last thought. When on your travels, keep an eye out for the awesome Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. She's “America’s Environmental Flagship” -- as conceived by the one and only Pete Seeger -- and if you're lucky you may spot her under full sail gracing the spirit of the river and this very special corner of the world. We look forward to seeing you here!
