About Kamala Heath

We are English transplants who have fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. The grandchildren love to come and spend time here.We love sharing the cabin with people who really appreciate the beautiful setting. We have spent years upgrading the property. Not easy with over 110 inches of rain a year! We are thrilled that our guests are returning and recommending the place to their friends. Thank you to all of you and we love your nice comments in the guest book.

Kamala Heath purchased this cabin in 1984

Why Kamala Heath chose Forks

We come here to rest and rejuvenate and leave the city behind. Our family has owned and loved this property for over 25 years. Actually, the property has owned us! Especially the moles! Many of our English relatives have come to visit and are always amazed at the scenery.Last year's favourite memory was of my English buddies from high school sitting around the blazing campfire, late at night, drinks in hand, laughing until we cried. We wish to share this peaceful sanctuary with you.Make sure you take the time to walk the trails and pack a picnic for the beach.

What makes this cabin unique

Tranquility, relaxation, and seclusion. We have enjoyed watching the wildlife in the large yard. The trails are magical. Also the beach-combing,fishing and hunting is pretty good too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well i suppose I am a guest now in my own house,as I have to book out the nights I want for myself or my large family.I just want to say a "thank you" to all my returning guests. They must have meant it when they wrote in the guest book "we'll be back" I just had a call from a family coming back for the 5th time. I am a pretty easy drive from the Seattle and Tacoma areas. Their comment was "we have found our retreat and recharge place" It makes me so happy to share the family cabin and the incredible rain forest with gentle nature-loving people. Please continue to leave your fun comments in the guest book and I do appreciate it when you send a review into VRBO. I know you read them when making your travel plans. Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon. Kamala.

Sanctuary in the rain forest

  • 5 of 5

For my birthday I decided that I wanted to visit the Olympic Peninsula and specifically the rain forest. I was so thrilled to have found HVH! Its a cozy house nestled in the woods about 12 miles south of Forks, WA. It is very remote. The owner has fully equipped this house, so there is very little you need to bring other than clothes, food and of course your personal items. It has 2 bedrooms with twin beds in one, and a queen in another. We slept on the queen and it was a wonderful mattress! Usually in rental houses you get beaten down, old, uncomfortable ones that hurt your back. Not this one. It was truly a really nice mattress and we both slept well while we were there. The house is fully stocked. It has games, movies, magazines galore, a highchair, rain ponchos, rain boots, umbrellas, extra leash for your dog, doggy bags, shoe dryers, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, all kitchen items necessary, towels and extra towels, washer/dryer and more. Quite well equipped for a small home. The yard hosts a firepit, wood, and a lighted gazebo with a bbq grill so one can sit out on a nice evening and enjoy a cookout or just a fire. There is also a play toy for the kids! And lots of room for your small dog to run around.

The best thing about it though is the location. As I mentioned, it is very remote and so very quiet. There are a mile of trails in the woods around this home and they are well maintained. Walking through these trails, one experiences the majesty of the rain forest in all of its glory. There really isn't a reason to drive to the Hoh Rain Forest from here and pay the park fees to see that. You can experience the rain forest perfectly just by visiting Hoh Valley Hideaway. I highly recommend it.

Unparalleled Solitude

  • 5 of 5

We cannot believe the peace and tranquility this setting provided. The trails are beautiful, I felt like we were in the rain forest! Proximity to the beaches of Klaloch was an added bonus! House was quaint and included everything we needed. Cozy and comfortable! We will be back and will refer friends! Thanks so much for everything! The Tucker family, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Great Hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

My good friend and I came from Iowa for my 50th birthday and we stayed in Kamala's lovely hideaway. What a great place and we had such a great time. We enjoyed going on all of our day trips and loved coming back to the quiet, remote, charming Hoh Valley Hideaway. Kamala has thought of everything and we loved it! I will definitely be staying here when I make my way to this area again. There is so much to do and see. Be sure to stock up on groceries in Forks as it is a bit of a drive from town. It was wonderful being so close to so many wonderful beaches and parks!

We wanted to stay longer!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to explore the Hoh Rain Forest and nearby areas, and I discovered the Hoh Valley Hideaway online and booked it as our "base camp". We were absolutely delighted with the location, the cabin, and the surroundings. You can't find a more secluded place to stay - so very quiet and peaceful there, you can't help but feel relaxed. The surrounding forest just beckons, and the trails through the woods that begin right on this property's edge are a perfect way to explore and learn about the rain forest vegetation and habitat. Plus, you can take all kinds of day trips easily from this location - visit the Hoh Rain Forest, the Duncan Memorial Western Cedar Tree (largest western red cedar tree in the world), and, just a few miles' drive from the cabin is a wonderful approx-one mile hike through the woods along the Hoh River to its mouth at the Pacific Ocean. Take a picnic lunch and a blanket to sit on! The town of Forks has a huge Thriftway grocery store with about anything your heart desires, and there are several little restaurants there for your dining pleasure. Take my word for it - you will not be disappointed with the Hoh Valley Hideaway. It is absolutely a little piece of Heaven on earth, and Kamala is a dream of a hostess! Thanks so much ~

A fabulous place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! It is very private, secluded, and comfortable and the owner has provided everything we could possibly need. The trails take you on a trip through the past, where you can see the remnants of the old giant trees, and at the same time the standing forest is tranquil and beautiful. The owner is very kind and goes out of her way to accommodate her guests. We recommend it as a place to stay while exploring the Hoh Rain Forest.

Awesome Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

This place is out there and really secluded which is awesome. all the amenities are there to do everything you want right there at the cabin. Town is about 20 minutes away with groceries so we ate almost every meal in usually under the gazebo. The trails on this property are awesome, Olympic National Park is awesome, the hike down at the end of the road to the Hoh River beach is well well worth it
