We live full time in the Southern Rocky Mountains. Our two young daughters love Kauai and we have many fond memories of our trips to the island. We spend our winters ski racing and horse back ride in the other seasons. Unfortunately we cannot bring our two pomeranians and five horses to Kauai! It is very difficult to bring animals to the island and we miss them very much when we visit. Other than the animals, it is very hard to return to the mainland.
We were married on the North Shore of Kauai and fell in love with the island. We hope to retire in Kauai someday!
I know that you are probably searching for a beach front property instead of ocean view. We were too when we bought our property however, we are so happy to be located high up overlooking the crashing surf and experiencing wonderful trade winds. On our first visit to the island, we rented a house on the beach. It was great but very hot and full of bugs and noisy neighbors. We have entertained guests, such as my elderly parents, who can no longer tolerate the sun or the beach. They were thrilled to sit on the lanai all day and watch the surfers! Once you experience Hale O Lalani, you will never want to leave.
Anini Beach is known for kiteboarding/sailboarding. Whether you want to partake or just watch the pros, it is a great spot! Great for swimming, surrounded by a protective reef.
