Large 5 bedroom house on beautiful all-sport Magician Lake
Our waterfront home is located on beautiful, all-sports Magician Lake. At approximately 500 acres, Magician Lake is the largest and most desirable lake in the “Sister Lakes” Region of Michigan. It is a spring-fed lake, so the water level is consistent and the water is clean. We are conveniently located two hours from Chicago, 50 minutes from Notre Dame and 25 minutes from St. Joseph, Michigan.
Our Lake House is a two-story, year-round retreat with heat and central air-conditioning. It is a large home with 5 bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The Master Bedroom has a queen bed, television, and French doors that lead to a balcony with views of the lake. Across the hall from the Master are three bedrooms (two with queen beds and one with twin beds) and one full bathroom. The loft between the bedrooms has a twin bed and trundle bed to sleep two people. Downstairs is a huge great room that includes the kitchen, another bedroom, full bathroom and powder room. The modern, fully-equipped kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a large table that seats six and four bar stools at the expansive kitchen island. Large windows from the great room and kitchen offer more views of beautiful Magician Lake. Right out the back door, there is a large deck with a table, lounge chairs and a gas grill to enjoy meals outside. The long, private pier offers a place to enjoy sunning during the day and watch gorgeous sunsets at dusk. No seaweed in the shallow, sandy bottom beach makes it ideal for kids to swim and adults to relax on rafts. If it gets chilly at night, start a fire in the fireplace, roast marshmallows in the fire pit or take a dip in the hot tub!
About 6 miles away is the quaint town of Dowagiac with restaurants, stores and an ice cream shop. In addition to swimming and relaxing, other summer activities in the area include renting a boat, golfing, watching a movie at the nearby drive-in, visiting wineries, or apple picking. In the winter months, skiing, snowmobiling or cutting down your own Christmas tree are also nearby.
We are a family of four that love to spend time at our house on Magician Lake. We purchased the land on Magician Lake in 2000, tore down the old house and built a brand-new home in 2001. Our sons have learned to swim, golf, and ride their bikes at our lakehouse. We have also celebrated winter holidays at the lake sitting in front of a cozy fire and relaxing in the hot tub.

Why Pamela Fowler chose Sister Lakes
My husband grew up spending time on a lake in the area and always wanted to purchase a home of our own on a lake. Magician Lake is spring-fed so the water levels are consistent. Also, it is a large lake (about 500 acres) and all sports are allowed on the lake.
This is a very nice house. Our stay there was disappointing because of several issues. When we arrived the main floor had not been swept or mopped. As we familiarized ourselves with the house we noticed lots of crumbs in the basket on the counter, on the knife block and loads of them in the oven drawer. The most appalling was the grill. It was so greasy on the outside I could not even put a plate on the side tables. I had to try to clean 2 of the grates in order to cook on it. It didn't matter. The third time I cooked on it, it caught on fire. No fire extinguisher anywhere. I didn't use it again. Our stay also became very stressful due to safety issues with the dock. We were not made aware of any issues until the day we arrived. We rented a boat for the week and my husband called the property manager (a relative of the owner) to inquire about bumpers for the dock. He said we could not dock our boat and if we did and the dock sustained any damage, we would be required to pay for a whole new dock, even though, according to him, after our weekly stay it was going to be torn down due to its poor condition. This caused immediate stress. He suggested we purchase some screw in anchors and put them further into the lake and anchor our boat there. There was a "repair" done on the dock. The repair was a board screwed over another rotting board so that you would not fall through. We requested additional repairs to other rotting boards for our grandchildren's safety. A call to the homeowner gave us permission to use the dock, but, this sure was not what we were expecting for a vacation. Again, there was NO mention of any of this prior to the day we arrived.

Owner's Response: We are sad to see that this renter chose to denigrate our family home when we were so attentive to their needs. They apparently wrote this review in response to having a portion of their deposit go to replace the cover to the hot tub which they left off after being specifically advised to leave it secured when not in use. We felt bad they had to incur this cost so we only passed a portion of the cost along to them. We are always excited to get comments and reviews as we are always seeking ways to make our home more enjoyable as we cherish our time there and know our friends and renters do as well.
There are five bedrooms and a loft with a twin bed and trundle bed. Four of the bedrooms have queen beds. One bedroom has two twins. The ground floor bedroom is one of the bedrooms with a queen bed. No stairs are required to enter this bedroom when coming in the lake side of the home.
