Your neighbors were delightful and helpful.
Come visit us in Arizona sometime.
My two sisters and I stayed for a four day weekend and found the cottage very clean, the view beautiful, the location great, and Anna was very helpful. (She got a text from us our first night because we locked ourselves out. She was there in five minutes.) I would definitely stay there again!!
This was our first time staying in Lexington, and I surprised my wife with a mystery trip to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Wow, what a spectacular cottage location and view of Lake Huron. We enjoyed the short walk to shops and restaurants in Lexington, we had a nice 5 mile bike ride to neighboring Croswell, we enjoyed many walks on the beach and breakwater, and we also took a dip in the Lake.
(And we had perfect weather all weekend, sunny mid-70's all weekend!)
What a fantastic weekend! I recommend it.
I found the owner very easy to work with and very honest. Texting was the easiest way to keep in touch. I have two little ones and so her help baby-adapting the cottage really helped.
Lexington is a little forgotten town which is fully functional, and relaxing. Everything was in walking distance. You can get wifi at the marina, next door. The signal is strongest near the dock. There was a great park there for children. We found the stairs to the beach a little steep, but were able to access our beach easily from the marina, and block the stairs from the baby by using the outside furniture. Our private beach was great, with a nice shallow swimming area protected from the waves by the rocks nearby.
The cottage felt like a fully functinal house. The washer/drier was very useful, and the views of the ships outside our window were spectacular. There was a lovely bbq area-bring your own charcoal. There were three full bedrooms in the cottage. I especially liked the carpeting, which handled baby tumbles perfectly. There is a nice wrap-around window in the back so you can eat breakfast or sit up reading, with a great view of the lake. We brought our telescope, and there wasn't much light pollution out on the beach.
The cottage is well stocked, comfortable and spacious with a great seating area overlooking the beach where you can watch swimmers, boaters and freighters. The Lake Huron water is chilly (it's a Great Lake, after all) but still comfortable to swim. The private beach is really long (from house to shore) so nice for people wanting to play games or have a little bonfire). The kitchen is well-stocked and had everything we needed. Location is fantastic, with shops and restaurants within an easy walking distance. An IGA is just about 3 blocks away and had a better selection than I'd expected. Since the marina is next door, there is DNR-owned property adjoining the cottage, which provides a more gradual slope for getting down to the beach, which allows older folks and pets the ability to avoid the cottage's long staircase to the beach (but do plan a few minutes to walk to the shore). We were there over the busy Labor Day weekend, as well as the following week, and it was quiet and peaceful during both busy and quiet times. Anna is a great owner, very responsive and a nice person who is pleasant to work with. She keeps the place really clean and tidy. We'd definitely book this cottage again in the future.
After the long, cold winter all of us had I can't express the unexpected pleasure we had during our Easter weekend stay. It was a breath of fresh air and a wonderful re-charge of our batteries. Anna has thought of eveything to make your stay perfect. From comfortable beds, to amazing views and everything in between. We loved the fact we were close enougt to walk into town and experience all the great shopping and food, but also delighted we could snuggle down on the comfy sofa and catch up on our favorite movie, thanks to a great movie library at the house. We will definatly be back.
My parents snow shoed along the beaches. They said the Ice floats were cool! My brothers did some ice fishing.
My little brother played Hockey on the public ice rink we could walk right down too!!!Winter is great here!
