The property is only 8 miles from the heart of the city and 10 miles from the Austin Bergstrom Airport.
Our treehouse apartment is as unique and cool as Austin. Lovingly rebuilt and renovated by the owners, this little cottage retreat is as hip as Austin, and has as much personality. Small yet functional, close to the city yet quiet and secluded. Tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. Comfortable top quality queen bed, memory foam topper, down comforter, Egyptian cotton percale sheets, hypo-allergenic pillows and other bedding. Massive 9' glass doors look out into the live oaks and open onto the beautiful deck in the trees. Screen doors open up to let in the breeze on a spring or fall day, whisper-quiet central heat and a/c keep you comfortable on days the weather's not so accomodating.
Granite countertops in the beautiful, modern kitchen provide the work space for you to prepare meals should you decide to eat in. All dishes and utensils are provided and the kitchen is fully functional and stocked with built in microwave, stainless appliances, full size stove and fridge, complete with ice maker. And clean up is easy with the under counter sink and top of the line faucet. Everything you need is right there. Fresh coffee beans and an assortment of tea are also provided.
If you're going out on the town, take a quick shower and dry off with our large, luxurious towels. Our bathroom is fully equipped and as tastefully done as any in a luxury hotel. Soothing colors, travertine tile counters, the very best fixtures. Comes complete with all the necessities and conveniences of home. Or if you're staying in, take a long soak in our full-size tub before sipping a glass of wine amongst the live oaks on the private deck. Whatever you choose. Just remember, it's all about you.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, we want to tell you a little more about our property. The last thing we would want is for you to be unpleasantly surprised by any part of your stay with us.
Our property is located approximately 8 miles from the State Capitol Building which is at the center of downtown Austin. While we are located on South Congress Avenue, our property is in an area that is somewhat more industrial. In fact, our neighbor to the south is an auto impound facility and to the north, a mini-warehouse storage facility. Immediately in front of and behind our home, the land is unimproved and undeveloped. For some, this might be 'off-putting'. For us, it's just another of the unique qualities that make Austin what it is. In fact, in 2007, our local paper, the Austin American Statesman, was considering whether or not to feature our home as one of the 'coolest' homes in Austin. We were a little apprehensive and didn't know if others would love the place as we do. But the reporter, after spending the day interviewing us for the article, and the photographer who did the photo shoot, both proclaimed our property 'their favorite' of all the cool and interesting homes they had featured. The Statesman did decide to feature us in their paper, and the Associated Press picked up the article and sent it out in national distribution.

Chris and Roni Clark have lived in Austin for 23 years. They have three rescued arabian horses that live on site along with their miniature schnauzer, Maggie Mae. They own and manage apartment rental units in central Austin and spend much of their free time working on their 7 acres in south Austin, training and riding horses, and driving and playing with sports cars.
We didn't choose to buy this property, it chose us. From the first time we saw the huge front porch, sat and felt the breeze on a spring day as we looked out over the front 2 acre field of wildflowers, we were hooked. The minute we opened the massive 8' front entry doors, saw the hand tooled brass hinges and doorknobs, we knew we wanted this place and that we were meant for one another. And having 7 acres on Congress Avenue has been like having a small slice of the country right here in the city. Since we purchased this property in 1999, we've put our creative energy to work, improving every aspect of the property and creating a living environment that causes us to 'pinch ourselves' almost daily, just to make sure it's real. And now, we want to share some of this experience with others.
Privacy. Peaceful. Introspective. We've gone to great lengths to make our guesthouse as peaceful, private and reflective as possible. Having everything you need and want in an efficient space, having access to everything Austin has to offer, yet having the time and place to relax, recharge and reflect. We set out to create a retreat, and that's exactly what it is. A retreat from the world, or just a respite from the lights and music and activities of Austin, we hope you will come and stay and enjoy.
