Moose Tracks

  • 5 of 5
There were 9 of us staying at Moose Tracks, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The vaulted ceilings, décor, fireplace, fire pit, morning coffee on the dock were great. The house was well stocked with all household items needed including towels, sheets, pillows, etc as well a washer/dryer. We canoed, fished, although the person who fished did not catch anything. Rod thought he perhaps needed to adjust his line, etc. and confirmed that there ARE fish in the lake. Since there were 9 adults (60-80 yrs.) we did use the two blow up mattresses that we brought so two adults would not to share the lower bunk and futon on the upstairs level. (Kids or young adults may have been fine.) Also, we had a limitation since the king size bed was used only by the 80 yr. old matriarch. Grand Lake is a fun place to tour, and we especially liked the Rapids restaurant for the scenery/food/service. The two cows and 2 calves that frequented the next door salt lick, was a plus! We took 3 wonderful hikes recommended by the Kawuneeche Visitor Center.

We had an amazing time!

  • 5 of 5
We just spent 4 nights at this cabin and had such a wonderful time. The cabin is amazing. You take 10 steps out the back door and you are at the edge of a beautiful lake. The cabin slept 8 of us comfortably. We prepared most of our meals there and the kitchen had everything we needed it in. We used the BBQ grill on the back patio as well. We fished on the lake and caught several nice trout. The lake is "catch and release" only. We used the canoe that was provided and fished out in the middle of the lake as well. We spent most of our evenings around the warm firepit. We basically shared the property with several moose and a calf! We saw river otters, hummingbirds, chipmunks, deer and many types of birds. We had must missed a bear that was near the property the evening before we arrived. Grand Lake is nearby and has shopping and restaurants.
We highly recommend this cabin and hope to be back again in the near future.

Well Named Cabin

  • 5 of 5
Our family visited Moose Tracks Manor for a family get-away weekend. The cabin was clean, had a very open common area, and was close to town. We enjoyed being right on the little lake and utilizing the dock and supplied boats for fishing.
We even had a campfire right next to the lake. We, too saw the fox every evening, including the night he sat on the back porch. We also saw moose every day, sometimes more than once. Rod, the owner, was very helpful and responded to calls and Emails promptly. We hope to return to the cabin for another family get-together in the near future.

Easily accessible getaway with all the comforts of home...and then some!

  • 5 of 5
My husband, two tiny dogs, and I stayed at this cabin for three relaxing days. The drive up was gorgeous, and the directions that were included in the Renter's Guide made it extremely easy to locate the cabin.

When we arrived, we couldn't believe how spacious the cabin was, and the views looking out onto the lake made us feel like we scored big time on this rental. It was clean and comfortable with a full kitchen, so we felt at home as soon as we walked in.

Once we got settled in, we took the dogs for a walk around the area. Right away, we saw a couple of moose and a fox, and the rest of our stay included more moose sightings, a variety of birds, squirrels, and chipmunks.

There was a row boat and canoe for us to use, a picnic table, fire pit, porch with a grill, and deck. There were even fishing supplies available if one were so inclined.

I loved the fact that we could easily stay in or go out for a meal. The nearby market was a convenient place to pick up groceries. Every pan or utensil I needed for meal prep was available, and I really liked that the kitchen was stocked with vegetable oil, salt and pepper, and coffee.

The cabin has a fireplace, so the great room is a wonderful place to cozy up and read a book, work a crossword puzzle, or check email. There is even a collection of DVDs, books, and games to enjoy on a rainy evening.

Since Rocky Mountain National Park doesn't allow dogs, the Colorado River Trail was a welcome option for taking the dogs for a walk (5.2-miles out-and-back). It's a well-marked trail with trees, so there's some shade during the hotter months.

Overall, we had an excellent experience staying at this cabin. The reservation process was straightforward, and the property owners were super friendly and helpful with making our stay a memorable one. Thank you!

We would definitely come back again and recommend this place to our friends and family.

Great Get Away Home

  • 5 of 5
We live in Denver and like the option of being able to go somewhere in mountains and we used to have a place we could use but the home was sold so we have been looking for a new place to escape to throughout the year and I think we have found it! This place is great for small groups of friends and/or families and with it being right on the water, it couldn't be a better place to stay. It's nice and quiet but still close enough to drive into town as well. My only complaint would probably be the wi-fi service. Some of us had no cell service the entire time but didn't want to have to pay extra for their service so if you're staying for an extended length of time be sure to budget accordingly or have your hotspot ready to be used on your phone. We would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be returning again soon!

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed Moose Tracks Manor and we hope you use it as your home in the Grand Lake area!
Thank you for pointing out the internet access policy. There is full time wifi connection at our house, but because we get charged by the gigabyte, I have to pass that cost on to our guests. Usually if our guests use the internet for emails and light web browsing the actual data use is less than half a gigabyte in a week. For that little data I don't bother billing our guests.
So far, I have only charged one renter for access and that was when he used it to watch netflix movies for three days!

Spring (sort of) Getaway

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful cabin and getaway location! We planned a last minute Spring getaway to the Grand Lake area and couldn't be happier with everything. The cabin was spacious, well laid out and equipped with anything we needed. With all of the snow still on the ground and cool temps, we chopped firewood daily for a relaxing fire each evening. Perfect setting while enjoying a glass of wine in the comfy living area.

Nature at it's finest with peace and quiet all around. We had a little fox visitor each evening and lots of birds each day. No moose sightings on this trip but we'll count on that when we return. And we will definitely be returning!!

Rod, the owner, was extremely easy and pleasant to work with, especially given the short planning time. He was accessible for a couple of questions we had. He and his wife have done a great job creating a home away from home. Everything was perfect, as described, and shown in the photos.

My husband and I would definitely recommend the Moose Tracks cabin. The immediate area is amazing. Rocky Mountain National Park is close with so much to do (just not with all the snow we had). Grand Lake is a fun, little town to shop and visit with the locals,

Overall - Excellent all around! Five Stars from us! We'll be booking again soon!!
