Great house, but some disappointments

This vacation rental home is spacious and beautiful. The location is beautiful and close to the slopes although it is a bit difficult to walk with all the ski gear. The Soaring Eagle lift must be open if you don't want to drive and pay parking elsewhere on the mountain. It is a good option for a large group or family. Plenty of room and plenty of shower space. We were disappointed, however, with the difficulty we had contacting the owner when we arrived and there was not hot water and limited heat on the lower 2 floors. There is no cell phone service on the mountain, which we knew ahead of time. But none of the owner phone numbers given to us could be dialed from the house phone either, because they were long distance. We finally were able to connect with a 1-800 number to use a credit card after there was no response to email requests for direction about how to fix the heat and water issues. Once we were able to talk to the owner on the phone, he was helpful. The other disappointment we had is that we repeatedly found mice droppings in the kitchen and on furniture and beds. I hesitate to even write that here, but feel obligated since I emailed the owners about it and did not get any response to that information. We did not expect to have to check our bags for mice before going home. Good potential, but some issues that need attention.
Owner's Response: hi nancy.
thank you for your review of our property. cell service is very limited at snowshoe, the best way to contact us upon arrival is email. when the 800 number showed up on our phones we thought it was a solicitation call.
the hot water is still a mystery to me. i was at the house on the day prior to your arrival and it was working fine, i'm glad the fix was simple and immediate.
yes the auxiliary/back up heat on the lower two floors was our only source at that time. that is intended as back up heat only. i learned that the furnace located on the main floor went out on the 19th and went to the house to see what the problem was. i had contacted our heating and air vendor that same day and had him put us on the schedule as an emergency repair. the unit is only 5 years old and the part necessary is still under warranty, however the holiday and recent snow kept him from getting to the house until the day after christmas.
as for the mice issue, upon receiving your email, i immediately contacted our exterminator and asked for addition mice treatment services along with an emergency visit to remedy the issue.
i do apologize for these issues and would ask that you consider our property for your next visit to snowshoe.
thank you and have a great new year.
