A secret to share

  • 4 of 5

A hidden gem - a beautiful property in a very, very quiet village, peaceful and very, very memorable. Planning is the key, the closest supermarket is about 16kms away however, all been said it was not an issue to shop and plan your some of your meals 'in house'. Jean was warm and welcoming and was exceptional in providing an excellent induction to a spotless house, explaining all appliances, heating etc. It is a place where you could easily, curl up with a good book on a raining day, or sit and relax and enjoy the wonderful views or venture out. Whilst the village lacks services, the idea of this is appealing for those who wish to enjoy the location in stunning Burgundy and to totally unwind. It was a beautiful ending to our month in rural France! Though those stairs to the top level are indeed steep, the upper bedroom has a comfortable armchair with a foot stool with a sensational view, ideal for those seeking a quiet retreat from the lounge area. We would not hesitate to recommend Jean's property to others and perhaps one day return to stay there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. There is no grocery store in the village, a bakery truck offering fresh bread, croissants and a selection of groceries is coming every morning in front of the property. Check for the horn between 8 and 8-15 am A very good butcher van with great fresh meat in coming Fridays at 12am. We also have a very good (and good value) restaurant, here in the village, 5 minutes walk from the house: Le Château des Roches. The nearest supermarket in Pouilly is 13 KM away (8 miles) when you use the "route communale" I look forward to welcoming you back. Jean.

Schitterend huis met geweldig uitzicht!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Mont St Jean was absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

Jean the owner, speaks English very well and met us in Mont St Jean and showed us around this beautiful home that sits on top of a hill overlooking breathtaking views of the valley. He could not have been any more helpful. All of the furnishings are top of the line. As other visitors have stated it's even better than the photos. We were lucky enough to be there on a Thursday morning when the traveling butcher came by in his truck. His name is Mickeal and he was very sweet and had wonderful fresh products. There is also a bakery truck that comes by daily but unfortunately we missed it. There are two excellent restaurants that we tried while there. We took trips to many neighboring towns and when we plugged shortest route into our navigator, found some fascinating sights. We toured the northern part of the Grands Crus wine route, went to the market in Dijon, ate and drank wonderful food and wine. It was absolutely perfect. We would highly recommend this property to all of our friends and relatives. Thank you Jean, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home away from home. Sincerely, Don and Carol, Delaware USA

Great Stay in Cote d'Or

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I (seniors) had a perfect stay in Mont St Jean. The house has been fabulously renovated with the medieval stone exterior, but with wonderful clean, modern, mirrors and glass interior. The view from the top floor en suite bedroom is worth the trip! The kitchen is well supplied and had "starters" of seasonings, olive oil, and more. Jean was very responsive to every inquiry and most accommodating to our schedule. The location worked well, with 20 minutes to Saulieu or Poissy-en-Auxios for groceries and good markets; and less than an hour to Dijon, Beaune, Autun, and the Abbeye de Fontana. Great dinner at Les Roche restaurant right in Mont St. Jean.

Burgundy at it's best

  • 5 of 5

four of us ( two adult couples ) spent 9/29 through 10/04 at this beautiful property.

Jean's a great host. Everything's as advertised, even better. Property located conveniently to exploring the area. Close to all major sites in Burgundy. Beaune and Dijon are less than an hour drive. Drive to Dijon is via A6 but free of tolls. Stunning views from every spot within the property. Extremely comfortable stay. Highly recommended. Do not hesitate, rent Jean's property
