Craig and I would love to have you come and visit us at our brownstone that is nestled on a quiet tree lined street in the village of Harlem. The apartment is a full floor in a privately owned brownstone.
Our newly renovated vacation and short-term rental is a spacious and private apartment-style suite, complete with a separate entry, full kitchen for cooking, living room, dining area and private bath, all conveniently located in the heart of historic Harlem. We employed the services of a professional interior decorator so that we could offer you the very best. Each apartment includes flat screen televisions, cable (with all the premium cable channels) and internet service and are completely air conditioned. This apartment includes a queen size bed with a pull out sofa in the living room that converts to a double bed.
We’re steps from all major mass transit lines (the nearest subway is three blocks away), some of the city’s best restaurants, entertainment and cultural attractions including Sylvia’s restaurant, the Red Rooster the Apollo Theater, the Studio Museum of Harlem and many more.
Whether it’s for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation stay, our suites are designed with your comfort in mind. But don’t take our word for it, take a look around here, or feel free to drop us a line with your questions. Come see what’s Behind the Red Door!
Craig and I are both New Yorkers, he born on Long Island and I in Brooklyn and have been Harlem residents for over 30 years. We live 6 blocks from the apartment you will be staying in and are eager to make your stay an enjoyable one.

Every guest who has stayed with us has commented on either the beauty of the renovation, the peacefulness of the apartment, the convenience of the location or the abundance of nearby stores and services. It is really a great place to stay
Me and four friends stayed at this apartment and loved it! It's clean, nice, and big enough for 5 girls to stay in.
On arrival the owner was there to meet us, give us information about the apartment and the area. He was very nice and helpful. He gave us suggestions on where to eat and which subway to take. The train station is only about a 5 minute walk. Even when arriving to the apartment at 2 or 3am we never felt unsafe in anyway. I would love to stay here again!
This apartment is one of a kind. I would like to thank the owners for their patients. I LOVE this cozy 1 bdrm apt; it had everything I needed for my weekend stay. I would recommend any couple of family to go there. It was cozy, quiet, clean and updated. I have already told family and friends about this place and already they are excited and can't wait to book this apt when they come to NY for a visit if available. A few guest came over to see me and said it was cute , cozy and definitely affordable.
This will b my place to stay when getting away from home on a well needed weekend alone.
Thanks again to the owners you will be hearing from me again soon
3 of us stayed in this apartment for a week in August 2013. It is gorgeously decorated, spacious, has everything you need and is in a funky area with character. It is very easy to get to this flat if you are coming from La Guardia--a bus ($2.50) takes you within 2 or 3 blocks. When we got there the owner met us and showed us around. He also recommended restaurants and a grocery store and told us where the subway was (also 2 or 3 blocks away).
We had stayed in an apartment in NYC before--close to Times Square, but this one was less expensive, quieter, bigger and had more amenities.
We bought a week-long subway pass and used it and used it and used it. It is so easy to get anywhere on the subway and easy to get to this flat (by the 125th Street station). The area has character and we loved it. We would stay in this apartment and this area again.
This apartment is gorgeous, clean, very well equipped, spacious and was perfect for 3 of us. It is easy to get to from La Guardia on the bus and only a few blocks from the 125th Street subway station. The owner met us there and showed us around and gave us the keys. He also told us where the grocery store, subway and great restaurants were nearby.
We had been to NYC before and stayed near Times Square but this apartment in Harlem was much less expensive and much larger than that one. We really enjoyed Harlem, it has character! We bought a subway week-long pass and used it and used it and used it! We would definitely stay at this apartment and/or in this area again!
This is a very beautiful, huge apartment with everything you'll need for a short vacation - a queen-size bed for 2, a dinner table for 4, a big sleeping sofa, air conditioner, a small bathroom with soap, toilet paper, and towels; and a nice kitchen with dishes and kitchen tools at your disposal, etc. The only thing they didn't have is the washer & dryer in-unit, but don't worry, there is one services for that just one block away. The owners are super-nice people! They really do care about their guests experience, and help all they can! We arrived in a group of 5, so they even gave us an extra air-bed to sleep on.
I really recommend this place to stay, rather than any other hotel in downtown NY - They provide cheaper rate, and I promise it will worth every pennies you spend here! It will make you feel like home.
Oh, and don't let the neighborhood deceives you (don't take me wrong here, it is a safe neighborhood, it's just a little too dirty, comparing to Seattle, but that's the same everywhere in New York) - inside the apartment is much nicer than it looks from the outside and the stairs!
We are 3 blocks from the subway and 15 minutes from midtown Manhattan. Restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, laundromats are all within a 3 block radius. We are one block from Sylvia's, two blocks from the Red Rooster and a host of other restaurants. It is one of the best locations in Harlem or in all of New York City.
