This lovely home is new to the vacation rental market for 2013. For the past 15 years this has been our home, however we have relocated to Winter Harbor, just three miles away. Since this is a new rental we have no reviews at this time.
Located at the doorstep of Acadia National Park's Schoodic Peninsula...just a 1/2 mile walk into the national from the home. We are in the village of Bunkers Harbor and this home offers ocean views that extend over the spruce-clad rock bound coast with dramatic breaking surf, lobster boats and a lighthouse in the distance. Named “Harbor Treasure”, this home has the charm and elegance of a traditional seaside cottage yet all the amenities for modern convenient living. The porch across the front of the house beckons one to linger and enjoy the sounds of the sea. The perfect place to read, relax, enjoy a glass of wine and savor the peace and quiet.
The large bonus room is set up as a master suite with a king size bed and living room furniture, overlooking the spectacular view. On the other half of the house the upstairs has two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. The front bedroom room overlooks the ocean and the guest bedroom has it's own private deck. There are two full bathrooms, one between the two bedrooms upstairs and the other on the first floor. The other rooms in the house include a galley kitchen, a separate prep-kitchen, a sunroom, a living room, and dining room. There is a two car garage, a covered front porch and a side deck both with ocean views. The home sets up perfectly for two families to easily share with both common and private spaces. The total square footage is 2000 so there is plenty of room. The home has enough beds to sleep 6, however there is plenty of floor space for sleeping bags and air mattresses. There is one queen size mattress available at the home.
Other amenities are a dishwasher, gas fireplace, washer, dryer, gas grill, high speed internet, cable television, built in speakers with stereo unit and a local land line. All bedding and linens are included. No additional cleaning fee. Purchase lobster fresh off the boat the say day it is caught, less than a mile away.

My husband and I are both Maine natives, having grown up in northern Maine. We love the coast, nature and the quiet lifestyle that this area offers. We live 3 miles from this home, having moved last year to relocate our business.
My Dad purchased this property in 1987 and it was a summer rental property with him for several years. In 1997 we purchased the cottage from him and moved here full time. Over the next year we made numerous upgrades and changes along with the large addition. We fell in love with Winter Harbor Lighthouse on Mark Island, the night sky, and Acadia National Park. We never tire of natural beauty around us, after 15 years of living here it is still surreal at times.
The drama of the ocean is every changing and the spectacular night sky is one of the best in the entire northeast. You can walk into Acadia National Park just 1/2 mile away to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Visit the very scenic and less crowded part of Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula, (which is a 1/2 mile walk from the home) with it's spectacular rocky shore, crashing surf and gorgeous views of Mt. Desert Island. If you like to bicycle you can take the 12 mile loop right from the house through the park and back home. If you run out of steam along the way flag down the Island Explorer and hitch a ride with your bicycle back to the house. Nearby are the villages of Prospect Harbor, Corea and Winter Harbor which are quaint and picturesque. Take a tour of the 5 antique shops on the peninsula. Winter Harbor has restaurants and a historic downtown with unique shops and is also home to Hammond Hall, the focus of many cultural events throughout the summer through Schoodic Arts for All. On Tuesday mornings there is a farmer’s market featuring several area vendors with fresh produce, goat cheese, artisan breads, fresh cut flowers, hand crafted items and other delights.
Take a guided tour around the local islands and see nature at sea level on a kayaking trip with a Registered Maine Guide on the same street as this home with SeaScape Kayaking.
There are several small beaches to seek out, collect shells, sea glass and enjoy the scenery.
Heading north of Route 1 you can visit our local winery, Bartlett Maine Estate Winery and sample their exquisite fruit wines or hike Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge where there are a variety of inland and shore trails for hiking. If you love the night sky, you are in for a real treat as we have the best night sky in the northeast which you can view right from this home or travel into Acadia National Park. SERC Schoodic Education and Research Center has many planned activities in the park. Check out the concert/chamber music schedule of the nationally-renowned Pierre Monteux School for conductors and orchestra musicians, located in Hancock just 20 minutes away.
Winter Harbor is home of one of the oldest golf courses in the country with ocean views from every hole. Nearby Sorrento also has a public course.
If you're looking for a nice day trip, the main portion of Acadia National Park and bustling Bar Harbor are about an hour's drive away. Head in the other direction for a drive along the coast to Canada just two hours away...but don’t forget your passport.
