Welcome to my house, a cozy and fully furnished retreat in the heart of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. An ideal off-street home for those looking for a comfortable accommodation in a relaxed area yet downtown Reykjavik, whether staying for a couple of days, a week or even longer.
Hello, my name is Roald Eyvindsson and Im from Iceland. For the past six years I´ve worked as a journalist and at the moment I´m writing a book. Am into arts, travel, excercise and GOOD FOOD :).
I've always dreamt of living in an old house in Reykjavik's city center - close to all the buzz. But at the same time I wanted a comfortable place to retreat to. I finally got my change when I found an old off street house, in an increasingly popular and vibrant area, and decided to buy and renovate it to meet modern standards. And now I'm a proud owner of my own little paradise.
The style, old age and history of the house made me fall in love with it. Not to mention the location, the neighbourhood is just great with all necessities and attractions close at hand.Of course the house has two balcanies, where I love to drink coffee in the summer.
Beautiful house in the middle of Reykjavik only a couple of minutes walk from the main street and bars and restaurant. Everything worked perfectly and we loved Roald's books: it certainly felt like home. He also has every cook book and kitchen appliance known to man.
There is non meter parking a few streets away so there's no need to use car parks.
Probably the best place to stay in Reykjavik (even though I've only stayed in one place).
This is perfect for exploring wonderful Iceland. Roald's house is equally perfect: incredibly clean, well equipped and very homely (and roasty toasty warm). Perfectly situated - right in the middle of Rekjavik - one min stroll to the main area. Free parking readily available. Roald is always at the end of an email ready to answer any queries about Rekjavik (supermarkets/ restaurants etc) - so very helpful. We intend to return to Iceland in the very very near future - our first choice will be Roald's again! The Lynch family of Devon.
I didn't find time to write this review, but as they say "better late than never" :-)
We stayed 10 days in this house and we really enjoyed our stay.
The house is really clean, elegantly furnished and have all the amenities you could need for a rental and more (I really appreciated the amazing collection of cooking books).
The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the downtown but in a quiet area . If you have a rental car, there is no problem finding a free parking (all are free during the night) and during the day it's easy to find one in the streets near the house.
I was a little worried by the check in process but everything went well.
Roald is very kind and available to give you some advices (if you need) and answers quickly by email.
So, I really recommend this rental and I think we will come back in this house if we return in Reykjavik.

Our stay in Iceland was beyond our expectations. The apartment was located one block from the downtown area. It was tucked in a back garden off of a side street. The amenities were 5 star. Everything was new and very clean. The artwork throughout the apartment was stunning. The paintings inspired us to consider purchasing our own artwork from the same artist. Each evening we had our maps spread out on the kitchen table while we enjoyed a cup of tea. The sleeping arrangements offered privacy in a loft area. The bathroom on the main floor (only one), with only a shower was spacious and very functional. The third person in our group used the pull out couch in the living room area. It allowed easy access to the main floor bathroom. Every detail was considered. Everything worked. There were generous closets for storing your clothing. When I return to Iceland I will be staying here again. I have always stayed in a hotel when I travel. This experience has changed my view of travel. The information provided to us on what to expect from our stay was extremely detailed and thorough. The cleanliness, location, and attentive landlord, made our stay perfect. We were traveling with our 80 year old father and he is very particular. If this apartment could meet his standards then it is the perfect choice for anyone looking to be centrally located in Reykjavik in a first class apartment.
Our trip with our family of four to Reykjavík was so comfortable since we were able to stay at this beautiful (and spotless) house that was close to restaurants and shops. It was also a short walk to the water where we took long walks each night. We never took full advantage of the gourmet kitchen so I guess that we will need to plan another trip! Roald is a thoughtful host and we have already recommended this house to our friends and family.
My husband and I stayed here for almost 2 weeks, and we could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay. Walking distance to all in-town locales, but in a VERY quiet area. The house is perfectly furnished with anything you might hope to find in a rental. Roald is a great host, attentive, informative, but gives you your privacy. We rented a car for part of our visit and had no problem finding parking (and it's all free between 6pm and 10am). I am a chef and I LOVED the kitchen! Would definitely recommend staying here!!
Whale watching, sailing, shops, antique stores, coffehouses, bars, discos, opera, music hall, galleries, library and a flea market all close by.
