Enjoy magnificent views from on top of the world in this fully-equipped, delightful and charming home from atop Hanging Rock Mountain. Watch the sun rise OVER the clouds below you as you relax in our hot tub, enjoy a cup of coffee from the deck, or from the comfort of the living room. Fire up the wood-burning stove for those cool nights, or open the windows to let the breeze in on the summer nights.
Honey Bear House is literally walking distance from Hawksnest resort and just minutes from Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk and Valle Crucis. Wanna ski? Check. Wanna hike? Check. Wanna lounge around and do nothing but just relax in the hot tub? You can do that too.
Families will love the location near snowtubing, ziplining, Grandfather Mountain, gem mining and more. But you don't even have to leave; Honey Bear House is equipped with cable TVs, wi-fi, a DVD player and foosball.
Both bedrooms feature Queen beds with all linens. (There are also two Queen sleeper sofas with linens as well.) A fully-equipped kitchen (completely renovated in April 2011) is longing for a gourmet cook's touch. The home also boasts two full baths and an outdoor hot tub, overlooking the wonderful view.
NOTE: A 4WD vehicle is necessary for the winter visits. A view like this doesn't come easy!

We have long enjoyed the beautiful N.C. High Country. We purchased this home so that our growing family can make memories there for a lifetime. We firmly believe you will too in our home.
The Owner purchased this chalet in 2011
The first thing that drew us to this home was its million dollar view. (The hot tub didn't hurt either!)
This home is ideally situated close to EVERYTHING that we love about the area: it's close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, waterfalls, shopping, hiking, skiing, restaurants, quaint towns, Grandfather Mountain (where we can see, in the words of our oldest daughter, 'cute, little bears'), Tweetsie Railroad and so much more.
Our family of 4 had the opportunity to enjoy an late March stay at the Honey Bear. The house presents exactly as shown in the pictures with wonderful views and a fresh and fun interior that both the parents and children enjoyed. The house was super clean and well maintained. We were treated to a late season snow on the first night but the wood burning stove with ample wood kept us nice and toasty as we watched the swirling snow outside. We awoke to 3 to 4 inches on the ground but the streets had already been cleared by day break. We spent the second day exploring the local area and had a great hike at nearby Linville Falls. We enjoyed the final brisk morning sipping coffee in the hot tube while the kids splashed around. We ended the weekend by heading into Blowing Rock for the day which was a great combination of neat shops, cool parks, and diverse dining options. For those wanting to experience high country living with access to unlimited activities… This is the house for you!
My wife and I decided to take our kids to see snow. This location is close to the top of a mountain, so it was CRAZY windy the first night. Even with wind gusts up to 50mph and a low around -5, we stayed warm with the wood burning stove. Hot tub was amazing and the kids loved the game room. Having not thoroughly read the description, we did not have a 4wd vehicle, so I ordered snow chains just in case. It snowed 2 inches the first night, but the snow plows worked all day to keep the roads clear. I would TOTALLY recommend snow chains if 4wd is not an option. We stopped at the bottom of the mountain to buy a cheap sled and there were plenty of areas next to the house for our 4 yr old to have fun. We will definitely be back next year, if not sooner!
HoneyBear is 20 mins from EVERYTHING. We rented for our weekend of snowtubing at HawksNest. You can watch the tubing from the front porch. Cabin is exactly as described, kids loved it, Great weekend all in all. Will be back for more fun!!!
We came back to the Honeybear for the 3rd time and feel like it's home each time. The view is absolutely stunning, the decor is trendy and updated, the hot tub is really clean, the floor plan is ideal for a family and the location is spot on. We love going to breakfast at the Grandview Restaurant just down the way on 105 and Banner Elk is an adorable visit. We go gem mining down the road on 105 and love the Banner Elk winery. The Honey Bear has everything you need and actually fit 2 families of 4 perfectly. We will continue going back to the Honey Bear each and every fall.
We lucked out and got to experience some early spring snow fall. 2 inches was what was forecast but we had about 8 inches after it was all said and done. The drive up was a little Intimidating at first (Floridian used to driving on flat land) but after doing it a couple times, it wasn't so bad. The home was very clean when we arrived and we enjoyed having the wood burning stove(lots of firewood provided). It helped warm us up after playing in the snow. The only problem with our stay was not related to the house. Because of the snow and ice, the blue ridge parkway was closed and mount mitchell was closed as well. Other than that we had a blast! We were able to get to grandfather mountain the day before it snowed as well as linville caverns. I also recommend a visit to the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. It's the original one and was very unique. The Lowes grocery store was only about 10 minutes away. Very convenient. We are planning on coming back up this summer so we can explore the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Mitchell. Thanks for allowing us to stay at The Honey Bear House!
We had such a great time at this house. The rental agent was great. The house was clean and everything worked well. The view was amazing and the hot tub was so relaxing! We can't wait to return! There were 4 of us, but we could have easily brought another family with us!
