Another fine condo located at the Homestead in Glen Arbor, this main level walk-out condo at Gentle Winds is a perfect summer retreat. Located right on the Crystal River, a short walk over footbridge to Lake Michigan and miles of sandy beach is lakefront fun at its best. The sunsets are breathtaking and the water sky-blue. Spend the week shopping, hiking, swimming or maybe doing nothing at all! Just relax and enjoy yourself. Gentle Winds 1-2 is a cute 2 bedroom 2 bath with 1 Queen and Full & Twin in second bedroom. Condo has a full kitchen. Stock up on groceries and just stay put! Washer dryer also included. There are 3 TVs, cable,WIFI. One in living room and one each in bedrooms. Ceiling fans to keep it comfortable (sorry no a/c) Wood burning fireplace if you're staying in the fall. Dining table seats 5. Cable/DVD. Linens are included. SATURDAY-SATURDAY weekly in the summer.

Just a mile or two from lovely downtown Glen Arbor, relax in The Homestead and be close to everything! You can even walk along the beach all the way into town. The Crystal River, Lake Michigan, nicely landscaped grounds for walking, skiing, and restaurants–all are here at The Homestead. An easy drive to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. The well-known Pyramid Point hiking trail is just north of here–get ready for amazing views!

All of that activity surely makes you thirsty so why not grab a beer or a soda and burger at Art’s Tavern in Glen Arbor or Joe’s Friendly Tavern in Empire. Just west of Glen Arbor is the historic town of Glen Haven that boats historical displays, the Coast Guard museum, and a great sandy beach. In Empire, hike the Empire Bluffs trail for amazing views and have a picnic at the public beach. When the snow arrives, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are great ways to enjoy nature. Staying at the Homestead? Downhill skiing is right on the premises. All year long, these towns have something to offer! Check out the winter weekly hikes at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Overall we loved it. Minor maintenance issues; front bedroom closet door hangs by one hing,and not safe. Kitchen window handle always fell off. Front bedroom room smells musty, dryer doesn't dry very fast. Need TWO keys instead of one! Back bedroom ceiling fan has an annoying sound. Kitchen well equiped with plenty of pots and pans, which was nice for cooking. My husband really wanted to go to the pool and wants to consider renting from the Homestead next year for that reason.

We spent a relaxed week in July at Gentle Winds 1-2 with our two boys, ages 3 and 6. It was a perfect location for us. The ground level condo let our boys run around on the grass by the beautiful Crystal River, which they also enjoyed wading in. I loved drinking my coffee on the deck in the morning and listening to the birds and the river. A short walk over the dunes and we were at magnificent Lake Michigan, where we enjoyed several beach days. The condo itself was a very cute and comfortable unit with a well-stocked kitchen and plenty of space for a family of 4. Loved it!
