Come home to your Place in the Sun on St. Georgie Island! This pet friendly condo on the beach has two bedrooms, one bath, a kitchen equipped with everything you need to make simple meals, TV, wireless internet and a shared pool.

A Place in the Sun is just across the street from the beach and close to restaurants, shops and the state park. St George Island is truly a gem on the gulf. If you’re looking for a relaxing, rejuvenating time away from home, then you’ll love St George Island. It is a photographer and nature lover’s dream!

A Place is the Sun is located at 641 East Gorrie Dr., St. George Island, Florida 32328. Prices include everything except Florida state sales tax, a small house cleaning fee of $150 and a linen charge ($25/bedroom and $10/bathroom) - which includes all your linens, bath towels, toilet paper, paper towels and even little soaps at all of the sinks. There is also a small amount of laundry detergent and dish washer soap. There is a $50 cancellation fee up to 30 days prior to arrival. Ask us about optional trip insurance from AIG, a AAAAA rated insurance company (highly recommended to protect your investment!)

We've been to SGI and stayed in different units (though all A Place in the Sun quad). This visit did not disappoint. We love the island and love being right across the street from the beach with our 4 young children. We'll be back! We were very pleased. The Relax on the Beach staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Website is easy to navigate and full of helpful information! Will absolutely vacation again at a Relax on the Beach home! We didn't receive our final instructions until our arrival day. I emailed and left a couple voice mail messages as we were heading down. Knowing how responsive RelaxontheBeach has been, I knew we'd have the instructions prior to arriving, so I wasn't worried. I'm sure this was just an oversight, but it would have been nice to have the instructions sooner. Recommendations for Future Guests: Caroline's in Apalachicola was nice, but don't go if you're in a hurry. We'll definitely go back! We loved the dolphin cruise with Journeys. A highlight, for sure. If you want a paddle boat, reserve it early in the week or before you get there. We decided to check into getting one mid-week, and that was too late. We'll look forward to that next time!

I started RelaxontheBeach in 2004 because I knew that the vacation rental/property management business in Gulf Shores needed a complete overhaul. I purchased my first beach house in the early 2000's and immediately listed it with one of the larger property management firms in town. While I was thrilled that the house rented as well as it did, I was not happy with the draconian commission structure, poor cleaning standards, and slipshod maintenance.

I began to advertise and manage my property on my own and I doubled rental revenue in the first 24 months of owning the property.

Neighbors took note. I received phone calls. I received emails. How in the world, they wondered, was I able to generate so much traffic? Every weekend there was a car in my driveway. 'Simple' I said, 'treat every customer like family.'

I chose to buy a vacation rental house in Gulf Shores for a variety of reasons....the people are absolutely fantastic! Southern hospitality doesn't even begin to tell the entire story. From the waitresses with constant smiles on their faces, to the deep sea fishing boat captains with endless stories to tell, coastal Alabama can't be beat!

The beaches are the best in the world. Period. The finest white sand and the bluest turquoise waters await each and every guest. Need I say more?

World class golf is available in spades. Try your luck at Kiva Dunes, a perennial top 10 in the state of Alabama and ranked in Golf Digest's 'places to play' for an unforgettable links experience on the Gulf of Mexico. If you have a more traditional American layout in mind, the Peninsula Golf Club, with its 27 manicured holes and GPS loaded carts is terrific.

Anyone say 'fresh seafood?' You can't go wrong at any of our restaurants. Try 'Bahama Bobs' for the fresh catch of the day. The lunch specials are to die for. Relaxing Get Away!

Just stayed here this past week... and it was a very nice get away. The unit is the upper left - very well decorated, comfortable, and in good repair. The stairs are on the outside of the building, and a few of them feel a bit unsteady, but not in serious disrepair. The view from the front of the building is awesome - just like the photos show, only much better in person. I had a fair bit of work to take care of while on vacatoin, and I set up my office from the kitchen table to enjoy the view. Made working much better!

I chose SGI (St. George Island... gotta talk like a local!) for one reason only - the beach and the area are very dog friendly. Met lots of nice doggie folks down there - and no one ever objected to my two ~40 lbs aussies. The dogs loved the beach, tons of smells, tennis balls to chase, and crabs to pounce on.

The beach was great, white sand and clean. The dolphins right off the coast were amazing to see, something that I can check off my bucket list! Shelling here left a lot to be desired, as did overall temperature, it was HOT in August... no real surprise there though.

The rental agents were very responsive to me, which was very appreciative.

The area is best known for a few things... 1) Fishing & boating activities - numerous opportunities for charter fishing & tours, kayaking, etc. 2) Relaxing. You're an hour+ from major cities out here, so you are really no where near the hustle and bustle of some of FL... good and bad, depending on what you are looking for. Plan to bring your food in if you want to save some money - although wait until you get here to buy your fresh seafood!

I found the Apalachicola Estuary "museum" to be great - free admission and I caught a presentation about sea turtles which was awesome! Local shops are good, and many aren't just the typical "touristy" things.

Get a massage while you're here... the therapists will come right to you - it's well worth it!
