The Farmhouse is basically home away from home with better views and lots of land to roam and play. The property is huge!! The house is cozy, clean and very spacious. All the amenities from cookware, towels, cleaning supplies and more were readily available. Aside from food, everything we needed was there and easily located. And, downtown Banner Elk is only 5 minutes up the road so you can easily get what you need. It was spring during our stay so the 4 kids basically played outside for hours and hours exploring the nearby woods, climbing the hills and viewing the animals. Two cows and 1 donkey are kept in a nearby enclosed area but were very friendly and greeted us daily. Mr. H visits the property to feed the animals but you don't need to be there to meet him. He was very nice and told us a lot about the property and area. We also saw several deer and wild turkeys roaming the property. There is a fire pit so bring smores for roasting. Grandfather mountain is about a 10 minute drive but we visited Linville Falls and Linville Cavern--30 minute drive. Both great attractions. If you're looking for peace and quiet with great mountain views and lots of land this is the place for you.
This place was awesome to stay at. We had a great time and it was peaceful. We went up there with three adults and four children. There was plenty of room.

There are some things to consider:
Property has a farm hand that feeds animals and will need daily access to the basement portion of the farmhouse.
For snow season, you will need four wheel drive and or snow chains.
Plan your trip so that you arrive during daytime/daylight. GPS tends to get lost once you start to ascend into the area.
We look forward to booking the farmhouse on our next trip to Banner Elk.
The home and its location in Banner Elk were absolutely beautiful! The kids enjoyed the farm animals and the 16-20 deer showing up each day to be fed. We were a fifteen minute drive to Sugar Mountain for snow tubing and close enough to visit Boone. Although Mother Nature really didn't cooperate, we did get a little snow during our stay. Lastly, Marsha was great with the reservation!
This was our family's second stay at The Farm House in Banner Elk and we absolutely love it there! The home is nicely appointed for family gatherings, for fun or for some simple mountain relaxation time. Your choice! The home has breathtaking panoramic views and there are plenty of activities to do that are nearby and for all ages! Stores and restaurants are a short distance away in Banner Elk or in Boone. The animals on the property are always a big hit with everyone. Such a treat! Marsha does a great job looking after the Farm House guests! We look forward to our next trip to the mountains. :)
Our family stayed at the farmhouse for a mountain vacation and really enjoyed it. We loved the animals on the property and the deer coming to visit daily. The views and scenery were phenomenal and the house offered all comforts of home. Recommend the farmhouse to others and we will surely stay there again.
We had a wonderful time despite all the rainy weather. The kids loved seeing all of the animals and playing on the porch. The location was easy to get to and convenient to town. The house was exactly what we were looking for with great views and very comfortable.
