Saco, ME is 3 miles south of Old Orchard Beach and part of Maine's largest sandy beach, from Camp Ellis to Pine Point in Scarborough, 7 miles long.
The Ferry Beach Saco area is a quiet, quaint area unspoiled with high rises in either Ferry Beach or Camp Ellis. All cottages are at least a 1-3 minute walk to the beach or less here at Saco Bay.
We're about a 10-minute drive to Funtown and the Aquaboggin, both on Rte. 1 in Saco and 3 miles to OOB for shops & amusements. A convenience store, 2 restaurants, a bait & tackle shop and the main fishing pier are all within walking distance. Deep sea fishing boats and whale watching boats leave the docks in Camp Ellis. Kayak rentals not far away. Ferry Beach State Park is close by which offers several paths for walking.
There is a bike path from this area to the Old Orchard line. This is a great central location and a community which caters to families
Saco & Old Orchard exits are #36 on the Maine Turnpike and are half way between Kittery & Freeport for outlet shopping; 20 minutes to South Portland to a major mall and 20 minutes to Portland. There are also many shops along Rte. 1 for antique stuff between Wells & Scarborough. The Old Port is at the waterfront with shops. We’re about 1-1/2 hours or so from the Boston area
