Aloha I have been traveling to Hawaii and around the world for 29 years as an international flight attendant. Hawaii struck a cord with me when I first visited in 1985. I knew this was where I belonged. My husband, Jeff Noll also traveled and lived abroad having built golf courses internationally and domestically for 18 years and the past 10 years as a General Contractor licensed in the state of Hawaii and Florida. He has restored Historical Homes, renovated ones that need a little love and built dream homes for clients from coast to coast. On his first trip here he definitely shared the same sentiment that this was our destiny. To be here, nurture our lives and this land, with love, creativity and concern for the ecological future of North Kohala. It is a privilege and responsibility we relish. We look forward to sharing our bit of paradise with you.
A Hui Hou!
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2005
We had visited the Big Island over the years and North Kohala resonated instantly for us
The Kohala winds along with the sound of the adjacent Kohala stream makes for a very relaxing stay, whether enjoying the lush gardens, bird watching and resident ducks swim, or playing a fun game of croquet with friends in the midst of Coconut Palms, Kona Coffee, Avocado, Macadamia Nut, Kukui Nut, Papaya, Breadfruit, Fig, Lychee trees and a large variety of citrus trees just to name a few. The pineapple grove is always a surprise to visitors thriving next to giant bamboo stands, sugar cane, banana's and passion fruit vines.
The beautiful view of Maui which is enjoyed reverently during morning yoga on the Lanai is the perfect way to greet the day.
Sunset is the ideal time for a easy walk along the Kohala Stream Trail where spectacular views sweeping down over the village of Hawi and the coast you see Maui rising out of the Pacific Ocean before your eyes. The view of Mt. Haleakala on Maui bids you a sweet journey into the evening show of brillant stars drapping over you like a tent sparkling with a million diamonds so clear you think you're in a dream.
We enjoyed our week long stay here very much. It was a great place to return to after a day sightseeing or going to the beach or for having our family over for a barbecue. The cottage was very comfortable and super pretty. My husband, especially liked being in the country. Every effort was made on Jennifer and Jeff's end to provide everything necessary for a comfortable stay. We would definitely return.
We enjoyed 3 days in Hawi on our trip around the Island and were so pleased with the amenities and welcome at Bamboo Cottage. Jeff and Jennifer have situated the Cottage, and surrounding gardens, with a view to privacy. The gardens create a visual (and edible) feast. Jennifer, a retired flight attendant, adds touches that make you feel so welcome, from the lush bathrobes to the fresh fruits from her garden. Jeff, a contractor, built the Cottage as their first home and it is as charming as the photos show. Add Sushi Rocks for lunch or dinner and a drive to Pololu Valley for a hike down and a spectacular view, Mahukona Beach for crashing waves, drive to the airport and North Point to watch whales, visit the arty shops downtown only 1/2 mile away.
My husband and I stayed for 8 nights at the Bamboo Cottage and it was fantastic! Exceeding our expectations from the location and surroundings to the quality of the construction of the cottage and amenities. It was a great home base to tour the beauty of the island. It was private, secluded and quiet. Bamboo swaying in the wind with cows and sheep heard in the distance. It is a very sweet little place. Jennifer and Jeff have thought of everything - fresh coffee and fruit in the kitchen, comfy bed, beach gear for days at the beach, even a washer and dryer! The tour books in the cottage were a wealth of knowledge that lead us on many adventures! We'll be back. We LOVED it!
We had a very pleasant 3-night stay here in November and I'm already daydreaming of returning. It's such a comfortable cottage filled with many conveniences. Jennifer's lovely glass art throughout the cottage adds character and charm that you wouldn't find at a hotel. The grounds are beautiful, well-kept and really feel like Hawaii (the tiki figure was missing in action, though). Hawi is a very cute, welcoming town with beautiful sights, and it's also not too far to visit the beach resort areas for a change of pace and some beach time, if that's what you're looking for. Highly recommended!
Could not have been more pleased with our rental accommodations. Excellent value for the dollar.Well stocked and charming cottage. Lacking nothing. Great location. Immaculately clean. Jennifer and Jeff were great hosts. Attentive when you might have a question; but respected your privacy. Our best lodging experience while visiting the Islands...........
My wife and I stayed here for a week in April, and will return! The long time Hawi residents and owners, Jennifer and Jeff, have created a little piece of paradise for all those lucky enough to discover it's secrets. The cottage has everything you wish for in a secluded setting...comfy, cozy, clean, perfectly stocked, with cool breezes and lush tropical plantings that have developed over time with care by Jennifer's green thumb. Ask for a tour of the gardens and be amazed. The two owner artisans, Jeff a local contractor, artist and designer with his skilled hands, and lovely Jennifer with her gardening skills and extraordinary cut glass designs which decorate the cottage are both a treasure. The outdoor shower in rain or shine became a favorite ritual. Much appreciated were the basket of tropical fruit and local Kona coffee upon arrival. Ask them for a history of the main house, which originally was a church that they had moved onto the site, and subsequently remodeled into a beautiful island home with very special touches. A quick drive into quaint Hawi town beckons with shops and restaurants choices for all. If you want that special stay, quiet in the real Hawaii spirit, and to create some memories of your Hawaiian vacation, try this special discovery and you won't be disappointed.
