I'm an overworked Realtor from Austin that can only relax at the beach. It's just a shame I have to drive 3 1/2 hours to enjoy my little paradise on the beach.
I have been vacationing on Galveston's West End for 30 years. Same old 12 friends telling the same old stories over and over. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's our twice a year 'Big Chill' weekend. Other than those two big weekends, I totally love my other times to the beach either just by myself or with a few friends.
Galveston is truly a gem. There is so much history and fun things to do here. That's why I bought my house. It's the best of both worlds.....rustic beaches close to fun.
Sunny Beach was my first choice because it's so easy to get anywhere......attractions, restaurants, grocery stores.
Galveston has become such a great culinary town. The restaurants are amazing. Get to know the local places.
You will never get bored. Schlitterbahn, Moody Gardens, The Flight Museum, Historical homes, The Strand for great shopping, Golf & Spas are just some of the other things to do when not enjoying the beach. Also, it seems like Galveston has one event after another such as Mardi Gras, Dickens on the Strand, The Festival of Lights, Biker Weekend and more parades than any single town should have. Get out and enjoy everything she has to offer!
Schlitterbahn Water Park, Moody Gardens and the Flight Museum are only 5 minutes away. The Seawall is only 9/10 of a mile up the beach......easy bike ride. Downtown Galveston and the Strand are only 15 minutes.
