We grew up in Wellington and spent many idyllic holidays in Taupo. We currently live on a small island 30 km north of Sydney for 6 months of the year, and the other six months are spent in Wellington and Taupo. We have three children in both countries so our lives are pretty hectic! We run a business offering rentals in four houses, one on Scotland Island in Sydney, Wellington, Ohakune (at the foot of Mount Ruapehu) and the above property in Taupo.
My parents first holidayed at Lake Taupo in the 1970s. We continued the tradition with our own children and grandchildren. Our children became addicted to water skiing, boating, fishing, tramping and snow skiing.
The unique thing about this house, apart from the thermal hot mineral pool, is the unparalleled view of the lake and mountains.
Lake Taupo is a wonderful situation in the middle of the North Island with great day trips to Rotorua, the Mountains, Napier or Hamilton. Endless local activities and a very pro active Information Centre in the middle of town for all bookings. Wonderful local walks to the famous Huka Falls, canoeing on the Waikato River, Bungey jumping, Paragliding, and sky Diving to mention just a few!
