Lake Buchanan Lodge is a rustic lodge in the heart of the Texas hill country on Lake Buchanan. Lake Buchanan Lodge is a newly opened lodge built from 150 year old hand hewn beams moved from Wisconsin. This vacation rental comes equipped with a fully loaded kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, and 2 upstairs lofts that sleeps 16 guests total. Relax at this beautiful house on the covered porch, swim in the lake, or fish on the banks. Hike the nature trails, rent kayaks or charter a boat to complete your stay at this beautiful vacation home. 4 bedrooms and 2 lofts.
Lake Buchanan Lodge is located on the banks of Lake Buchanan. It's on 8 acres, so plenty of room for the kids to roam around on. The Lodge sleeps 16 so it's great for family Reunions.
It has a play scape for the kids. Horse shoes, BBQ pit. While the lake is low you can bring 4 wheelers and ride miles of trails in the lake bed. There is still plenty of lake but now there is added land to enjoys riding around it. The lake now measures 29 miles X 4.5 miles and that is when it's low.
This is a lodge reconstructed from a barn in Wisconsin, but with lots of barn support timbers shaped with axes and paneling inside from Cedar Elm, the other large Central Texas trees besides the live oaks. The porch is so inviting its hard to go inside, but inside one is overwhelmed by the beauty and mix of old Wisconsin barn and newest materials. Downstairs has a den with large screen TV, lots of comfortable seating, and fully equipped kitchen at one corner of the big room-den. Sleeping quarters are in two bedrooms at each end of the large room, and above each end and bedrooms are lofts. Bedrooms at each end are separated by full baths, and each loft is reached via a ladder, so a great adventure for older kids. The whole Lodge is quite new and well kept and clean.
Adjacent to the Lodge is a house which would be like a middle-class home anywhere else, but with a bunkhouse added and garage converted to playroom. In back of the house is a covered patio, so for a large group staying in the house and Lodge, it may be a toss-up which gathering place for a group to be. Grass? Check. Deer, birds (including owls at night and hawks during the day)? Check. Dave, the owner, even has canoes and kayaks for water recreation and fishing in Lake Buchanan, and because the Lake is down due to drought, he will take you to the boats. Customer service? Check. Quiet, in the country? Check. Recommend to 2 or more families, with or without kids, or as a group or retreat center? Check. Unique? Triple check.
Had a great time at a men's retreat at the Lake Buchanan Lodge. Great quiet setting with a lodge full of history (just ask Dave about it.) The accommodations are super clean, comfortable and a great place to just get away from it all. I always enjoy going back to stay at the Lodge.
Our family went on it's first big vacation that included grandmother, her 4 daughters and spouses, plus all the grandchildren and one great grand. We definitely maxed out the cabin but found it still very much suited our needs.
The couples and small children took bedrooms and the teenagers slept in the loft. I did not personally climb into the loft which is currently only accessible by a ladder but heard that Dave plans to build stairs on which will make it much easier. The boys were thrilled to use it though.
The beds were quite comfortable and I was very impressed. The cabin is well built and great thought has been put into it. I took my three month old baby and was grateful for the solid walls that allowed for limited sound carrying. Combined with our sound machine you could hardly hear anything from outside our bedroom. It was also helpful for those who wanted to sleep in a little when the early birds were ready to be up.
We found the kitchen well stocked with all the basic equipment you could need and there is comfortable seating for several in the main living space. We really enjoyed all sitting on the porch though and the unseasonably cool air. The lake is not currently full enough to enjoy many water activities close to the lodge but the adventurers all packed up in the car and headed to nearby Inks Lake State Park and spent the day swimming and cliff jumping. The little ones absolutely loved the darling playset and zipline. There was also room for some frisbee and football and the last night there we had a game of volleyball.
All in all we had a great weekend and this was a fabulous place for us. With our ride range in budgets from newlyweds and small children to singles and established incomes this property helped us achieve our goal of a fun getaway while pinching pennies. We managed to spend very little on groceries and cook our meals there. When we had questions Dave was very helpful and it is obvious that he takes great care of the place. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone and we would definitely return. Thanks so much, Dave!
Our great experience started when we booked the property. The owner, Dave, told us everything we needed to know prior to arrival. We arrived on Friday and met Dave, and he was nice enough to show us the cabin and tell us some history. (He asked if we wanted him to and we did.) We really appreciate the details that are put into this property and the stories behind it. He and his adorable dog also took us down to the water since it is low so we could get a view of the lake. Our group of 11 had everything we needed for the weekend including plenty of our own space as well as a great common area to get together. The property is very peaceful and we will definitely stay here again when we come back to the area. Thanks for being a gracious host, Dave!
Me and 15 buddies had an awesome time at Dave's Lake Buchanan Lodge this past weekend. I couldn't be more excited to share our experience here.
The owner of the lodge (Dave) built it with his own bare hands, but to get even more unique he did so with the re-purposed building materials from his families Wisconsin farm. The layout is perfect for a get together of close friends or a family reunion, with a huge living room and front porch. Complete with satellite TV and wifi, this house is great even if the weather is only marginal. The price is low, but the quality, cleanliness and amenities of the cabin were BETTER than expected.
What really sets this place apart though is the kindness and service of the owner, Dave. When Dave says "let me know if you need anything," boy does he mean it. Upon our arrival, Dave gave us a tour of the property, including a ride down to the water, which during our stay was several hundred yards away because of the lowness of the lake. To make sure we enjoyed our stay, and beyond our expectations, Dave provided us a campfire pit, fire wood, 2 dozen colorfully painted folding chairs, unrestricted access to his 8 acres (with cows) and so much more. After catching 3 full boat limits of stripped bass with Ken Milam Guides, we ran out of fish fry batter and sure enough Dave had plenty to share with us. Though Dave was very hands on in helping us, he respected our privacy and kept busy on his own chores.
While the information advertised Dave's pontoon boat charter, he really went above and beyond accommodating us. We asked him about cabs to get to and from the local honky tonk "Pardners" safely. Dave replied that he'd be happy to help us out with that himself. It turns out his ranch is named after his son who was killed by a drunk driver 13 years ago, and he was pleased to provide this service to ensure that we thoroughly and safely enjoyed our weekend at the Lake Buchanan lodge.
If you're looking for an intimate hill country get away, for up to 20 people, look no further than the Lake Buchanan Lodge. As someone who has rented quite a few vacation homes, I can surely say that a Home Away owner could NOT have done more to make our stay more enjoyable, and the property was BETTER than advertised!
The lodge is beautiful. A lot of room both inside and outside. The kids loved the playground. We had thanksgiving here and it was wonderful. Kitchen is fully stocked. Stayed for eight nights and parents and children never got bored. Mr. Dave is really helpful. If u are looking for a place to stay with a big group of people this is the place. We loved watching the deer in the yard every evening. We would love to stay here again.
Lakefront property. Lake Buchanan lake level is low at this time. Please be aware that we can't change the lake level. We have compensated the rental for this reason. It's probably 400 yards to the waters edge.
We do have a volleyball court, horse shoe pits and tether ball pole for other things to do on the property. There is also a castle playscape for the kids.
We are also open for longer term rental for snow birds in the winter. This is the perfect place for snow birds to get out of northern part of the country and enjoy warmer temperatures and the highland lakes area. Call for special rates for long term rental.
