La Jolla Shores Beach Front Cottage

This house is a magical place we started coming to a few years ago and return as often as we can. We can’t recommend it enough. I really feel lucky that we found it. It has everything we hoped it would and more. Kris, the owner, is a wonderful person and you can tell has great pride in the house.
The house is right on the narrow spit of the park that sits then on the beach. It is the best of both worlds. You can play or have a picnic on the grass or the beach. The views from the house are AMAZING. Not just a sliver of the beach/ocean but a huge area, including down the coast because the house sits elevated above the park and street. We have watched dolphins and even seen whales spouting from the living room. Though I am not a surfer, I understand this is also a favorite spot for that too. Our kids love the ocean and there are areas on the beach with almost no surf that is designated for wading. The other thing we love about this place is the two car garage and a huge driveway. We had three families come over for a Saturday at the beach and all could park in the driveway instead of dealing with the hassle of street parking, which can be tough.
The photos don’t do it justice. The living and dining area are an airy white that adds to the warm comfortable classiness of this place. All the original wood floors, tiles in the bathrooms, fixtures and detail are so cool. You can tell when it was build in its day they didn’t spare expenses. This is not a tired beach houses. It is crisp, clean and very comfortable. There are two fireplaces that are great on cool nights. We also love the private garden patio off the master bedroom. It was also very handy have a washer/dryer and shower in the garage.
